Ys: The Ark of Napishtim on the PSP

Ys: The Ark of Napishtim is the sixth story under the same series. In this PSP game, we can find Adol Cristine being chased by the Romun Navy. In order to escape from their wrath, Adol clambers an escaped ship only to be swallowed by the Bermuda triangle, also known as the Great Vortex. The Vortex swallows him and puts him in an island where he will be rescued by two Rehdan priestesses who brings him back to good health. After his recovery, Adol sets off with the mission to find the mystery behind the Great Vortex storm and the “Mirror of Zemmeth” to the mankind. Mirror of Zemmeth is a mystical object with super powers.

As he ventures into the island, Adol finds himself amidst deadly monsters and their bosses. In the beginning, Adol is armed only with a blade later the Rehdan priestesses grant him the Emelas Sword, which enables the possessor to bring down the greatest of the beasts. On the way, players can find many swords with the powers of wind, fire or lightning. These swords can be powered up by collecting emel stones, which can be won by killing the beasts, these stones ought to be taken to special craftswoman, who enhances the powers of the swords. On upgrading these swords, players can not only enhance the powers of the swords but also their magical quotient.

Adol possess special sword skills which enables him to destroy his enemies in an easy way. The battles involved in Ys: The Ark of Napishtim is really addictive and makes the players play again and again. The controls in this game are easy and comfortable to handle which includes the switching of swords just by the click of the shoulder button and healing oneself with a single click.

The characters and the atmosphere of the game are quite pleasing and the graphics also requires a special mention. Critics all around the world have appreciated Ys: The Ark of Napishtim for its wonderful soundtrack. For all those who have loved playing games under this series, this game definitely brings about a feeling of nostalgia and makes the players forget all the cons of the game and cherish the pros.
