Ben 10: Alien Force is the latest Ben 10 Saga

This animated show on Cartoon Network is popular enough to be designed for video games. The latest in the series of games is Ben 10: Alien Force on the PlayStation Portable. This multiplatform game features Ben Tennyson as the hero. Ben along with Kevin Levin, his friend and Gwen his cousin go around hunting for alien technology pieces on Earth. They also probe into plumber Gorvan’s suspicious activities during their search for Grandpa Max.

Though a wee bit uninspiring, this game has quite a bit of character development and gameplay which provides for some excitement. Cut scenes lack in effect, with a narrative that could have been far better. As a player in Ben 10 - Alien Force PSP, you spend your time controlling five alien forms belonging to Ben and Ben Tennyson. Linear levels take you through to goals that lack in action and energy. As you cross levels, you run across the pillars and ridges. These linear levels feature flat terrains where you battle against the HighBreed and their subordinates.

Omnitrix is a patented skill of Ben Tennyson and he can use that to change into Humungousaur or Jet Ray, the Spidermonkey, Big Chill or Swampfire. All these creatures come in different sizes are equipped with varying skills. But the whole process is designed in such a lackluster manner that there is no real excitement or fun unlocking combos or going through enemies.

The amount of battle a player has to engage in is huge and there is a feeling of repetitiveness. Pace is very uneven with levels going on and on for hours. The worst part is there is no choice but to fight every alien you encounter. An invisible wall appears in front of you at each level preventing you from moving further. All you do is to whack away at HighBreed’s alien fodder.

Uninspiring is the word that comes to the mind when we take a look at this game. Lack luster narrative and gameplay and boring, repetitive battles in levels that never end, this game could have been designed in a better manner. The visuals are bland and music leaves much to be desired for. With an inspiring battle mechanic and refined platform, this game could have offered some wonderful adventure and action.
