Many a game has been made based on movies released or yet to be released. The Incredible Hulk is one such game which just borders on the weird as it does not have any depth in the game play as well as graphics and settings.
Incredible Hulk is a game set in a city environment. Based on the movie the characters resemble the actors. For example, Tim Roth looks exactly like Tim Roth and Edward Norton resembles Rodney Trotter.
Setting itself is quite moderate. It opens engagingly enough. However as the game progresses you come across boring landmarks that you recognize. There are not enough clear introductions to the game. However, this does not really matter as the Hulk is all about trampling about, stomping on the rubble and knocking down things. Graphics and game presentation is also mediocre. Do not expect anywhere near the same quality as The Incredible Hulk PS3 version; and even that version was admittedly not too great. The missions in the handheld version are familiar and involve the usual breaking things, fighting bosses, etc. There is little direction and purpose in the game where you can move around only by knocking down innocent pedestrians, smashing buses filled with passengers and knocking holes in buildings. Missions always start with Bruce’s conversation with the NPC. Player is often at a loss as to why Bruce has become the Hulk generally moving around squashing people for fun.
Of course, if you love to just simply dash around destroying things, then this game provides for a lot of fun and action. A variety of actions allows Hulk to pick up debris, use a concrete slab as a shield, push bad guys off skyscrapers with a girder, etc. This game is similar in many ways to the 2005 version of the Ultimate Destruction game released on the Game cube, Xbox and PS2. This game is age rated at 12 years and above.
The game offers some basic fun that is short lived. There are a variety of similar games with a better presentation and features. The Incredible Hulk seems to be a poor attempt at passing off a hurriedly made game before the movie hits the screens. There are definitely much better games in the same category which can provide you a better level of entertainment.
