We reported earlier on the record setting pace of the PSP game Monster Hunter Portable 2nd G in Japan, and it seems as if the game simply cannot be stopped. Monster Hunter has now surpassed the 2 million units sold mark in Japan, and without even being released for an entire month! Many games would never dream of such success in their wildest fantasies, but Monster Hunter is living it.
The record officially makes Monster Hunter Portable 2nd G the best-selling Japanese PSP game of all time, and it is clearly a reason why the PSP has recently overtaken DS lite sales in Japan as well. In fact, statistics show it is currently the second most successful game out there across all consoles, with only Mario Kart Wii topping it. Of course the question on everyone’s minds is when the game will finally make its way here. Given its current success a European edition is inevitable, but the speculation currently puts the release date at around September at best. This is a long time to wait, although some dedicated and resourceful PSP users ought to be able to get their hands on imports. Some people are also sceptical whether or not the game will achieve the same amount of success outside of Japan. We will just have to wait and see.
