Both the PSP and the PlayStation 3 are popular in the gaming world because of their splendid performance. While the PlayStation 3 entertains you at home, the PSP keeps you excited while on the go. PS3 has got a massive storage capacity which can hold a large amount of multimedia data. In contrast, the portable PSP does not have a hard dribe and thus, it does not have that much storage power. So, what to do if you want to access the data stored in the PS3 while you are away from it? The definite answer is the ‘Remote Play’ feature which has been introduced in both PSP and PS3.

Remote Play transforms the PSP into a PS3 remote control. Your PSP can interact with the PS3 and can access music, pictures, games, videos and other data stored on the PS3 hard disk. Remote Play delivers the data form PS3 to PSP and vice-versa via WLAN connection. The latest version of Remote Play allows you to turn ON your PS3 remotely via PSP, access its applications and play PS1 games. In order to reap the benefits of Remote Play over a local/private network the system software of PS3 should be at least 1.60 and for PSP it should be at least 3.10. If you want to use Remote Play over the internet then PS3 must have system software v1.80 and for PSP at least v3.50 is required. Till now only few games and applications are compatible with Remote Play but Sony has allowed its developers to create more games for PS3 which will be accessible via PSP. Till now, there are only two PS3 games which supports Remote Play feature i.e. Gran Turismo HD and Formula One championship Edition. So far the applications compatible with Remote Play are Music, Theme, Printer, Date and Time, Sound, Photos, Videos, Game Data, Saved Utilities, Memory Card, Internet Browser and PlayStation Store. You can also access the Block list, buddy list, Message Box, Players Met list and can add a friend plus start a new chat under the Friends menu. In near future a lot of other applications and games will be supporting the Remote Play.
