Game Sharing on PSP

Did you ever wanted to play a game which is on your friend’s PSP? Have you ever imagined playing a game on your PSP without its UMD? Imagine no longer, as this is now completely possible and achievable. Some versions of the PSP support a game sharing feature. This will allow you to play the games in multiplayer mode on two PSPs out of which one PSP contains the game UMD and the other one does not.

You can transfer the game data to the PSP RAM which does not have the UMD. To accomplish this, the person having the UMD selects the Transmit function in the game menu and the other person who wishes to download the game data has to select the ‘Game Sharing’ function under the main menu of his PSP. After that, as soon as the two devices recognize each other on a WLAN network, the game download begins. It takes time to download the game wirelessly at a speed of 11 megabits per second. The only problem is that not all the games are compatible with the game sharing feature. There are some selected games which can be shared on two PSPs simultaneously and they don’t offer as many features as other games. This is because while sharing the game it gets loaded in the PSP RAM. So, it’s natural that this will limit the game’s functionality.

Gamesharing is a temporary solution to enjoy the games. As the game is loaded in the RAM instead of from the memory card, it cannot be played once the main PSP having the UMD is switched off or set back to Home menu. Despite of all these limitations, gamesharing is very popular. It at least offers ad hoc multiplayer gaming, especially when one has no time to get his own UMD but wants to show off his gaming skills against his challenger.
