Twisted Metal 2, the second installment in the Twisted Metal series, is a combat game with a heavy involvement of vehicles. The first game was declared a hit by critics and audiences, the developers were practically forced to launch a sequel. Since its release, the game has achieved cult status.
The game involves heavy armory and action, including ballistic projectiles. The gamer has to choose a vehicle and an arena out of the many arenas available in the story mode to battle enemy drivers. A lot of weapons can be added to the armory as they are scattered all over the stages. The main aim of the gamer is to be the last survivor.
The story of the game is a mirror image of its predecessor. The game begins with Calypso, a man who hosts Twisted Metal, a game based on vehicle combat. The winner of the tournament is slated to get anything that he/she desires in the form of a prize. A catchphrase has been added to the game which adds some mystery to it as the computer can be often heard saying “Be careful what you wish for”. Unlike the first title Twisted Metal Head On, where Los Angeles was used as the background location, in the sequel areas all over the world are used.
The tracks have been designed in a very rough manner to give the game a very macho look, with many Hummer type vehicles. Moreover, the cars have a lot of artillery attached with them in the form of guns and missiles.
The enhanced graphics used in the game make it look spectacular and the attacks also seem to be very impressive. Repair stations used in the earlier version have been replaced by health pick ups which play a vital role in restoring a limited amount of health.
All the action loving maniacs cannot afford to miss out on this one and are guaranteed of getting their money’s worth back.
