You always dreamt of being the tough guy? Now is your chance to realize that dream on your PSP as Midway Games brings you Blitz: Overtime. An unlicensed version of the NFL Blitz series, the game has been designed on the same theme, namely, Football.

Unlike true NFL Football, the game features 18 fictitious leagues where the players embroil in tough games of football mostly full of violence and aggression. Blitz: The League has already been a hit on the Xbox 360, where the high-end graphics really bring the action to life. The game also features former NFL superstar Lawrence Taylor who plays Quentin Sands and captains the New York Nightmare. It is basically a hyper violent extension of gridiron football and strikes an unbelievable resemblance to the earlier versions released in the Blitz series.

Similar to all previous games in this genre, 30 yards is the distance where the first downs are awarded and 8 men are kept on the side unlike 11 in regular football. In reality, the game might turn into a battleground if there were no match referees and penalties but the game does not feature either of them. The players in the game tackle each other quite viciously and the blocks also seem to be very barbaric. The “Clash” meter is given as a reward to players when they score, gain yards, force turnovers and make successful tackles. As soon as the “Clash” meter charges up, the players have been given the energy to run wild on emotions as they can perform “dirty” stiff arms, dodges, and “dirty” hits while defending. All these amusing antics lead decrease levels of stamina and morale in the opposition camp and occasionally even results in injuries being afflicted on them as well.

The singe player mode against the computer is actually quite difficult. The opponent or the computer player becomes almost unbeatable and it requires great skill to overcome the challenge.

The game is loaded with heaps of action, which one you might associate with a street fight or brawl, but takes place on the field in the game. So, if you are one of those guys who really likes their football brutal and violent, then this would a good title for you.
