The latest version released in this series gives you the option of choosing any team amongst a heap of 63 fictitious teams selected from 26 countries. All these teams play against each other, and you as a manager have to make sure that your team lives up to its full potential.
The first thing that the gamer needs to do as a manager after setting up his profile is to choose a league which he/she feels like running and the amount of depth that the gamer wants to go into regarding the game details. In Championship Manager (PSP), the player will choose from a selection of real leagues and will then be responsible for all the decisions made, just like a real life manager who is held accountable for all the happenings in the team. The players on the field have to be carefully handpicked by the manager, in order to creative an effective and well balanced team.
All the players have to be arranged according to their previous performances and statistics, while all those who have not performed well can be given some match practice to help hone their skills. All the focus is basically laid on the day the match happens and when the team managed by the gamer is scheduled to play, a list of fixtures appear onscreen before the team assembles in the dressing room for some talk.
The match takes place just like a proper game of soccer once the whistle is blown. The gamer can scream and shout just like a tense manager while the game is in progress. If you really want to know what a sports manager feels like when his team is on the field, you need to play the game and experience the flow of emotions and adrenalin.
