Sony has adversely affected the sales of the world’s most adorable handheld gaming and digital entertainment console, the PSP, due to the discontinuation of its Extended Battery Kit. Now PSP fans cannot enjoy the long lasting hours of entertainment and fun, as they have to run their portable consoles by using the original factory fitted batteries only. However, according to Sony Entertainment, the company has made the right decision, claiming that, according to the results of a recent survey of PSP users, most PSP users are happy with the original battery kit supplied with the PSP Slim n Lite. The public relations manager Al De Leon said,”Yes, we are discontinuing this product as we look for other opportunities to service the consumer.”
To some extent the survey results are true as a large number of PSP fans are still happy without the extended battery kit, but there is also a majority of hardcore PSP gamers who are criticizing this decision. They count themselves among the most dedicated PSP fans, and therefore want to use their PSPs without any interruption. For this, they are always on the lookout for any hardware which can extend the operational duration of PSP, such as the extended battery kit. The discontinuation of this accessory has left these kinds of gamers highly disappointed.
Despite all the criticisms and even the initial fall in the sales of the handheld console, Sony has decided not to reverse its decision. Of course, customers are always capable of opting for non-Sony products, such as the Logic 3 PSP527 - External Rechargable Battery, that basically accomplish the same thing. The company is looking forward to serving something new and more exciting to PSP fans soon. PSP fans can have only those extended battery kits that are still remaining in the stores. So if you want to power up with your PSP with some extra fuel, then catch the final supplies of the extended battery kit before they are all the gone.
