Tokobot can be best described as a cross between Nintendo’s Pikmin game and a puzzle platform game. This game features six tiny robots which are totally controlled by the player and used to navigate and solve various puzzle levels. Though it sounds quite simple, this game actually offers its share of challenges and enjoyable moments.
The best part is that the player not only has to learn how to manage the group of six or more robots, but also learn how to make use of some of their intricate moves during the course of the game. The tocobots have the special ability to get into any kind of three formations. These special formations can make use of special moves called Joint Actions. These joints can be used to defeat the enemies. The real excitement in Tokobot (PSP) lies in deciding which move to be taken when and, most importantly, which move will be most effective for disposing off a particular enemy.
The game’s graphics are very crisp and sharp, and the background areas appear quite smooth when in motion. There have been a few special effects added to the game to enhance its visuals. The sound effects include the sound of beeps and other noises, in addition to a quirky soundtrack. On a whole, the audio in the game would sound something like a special soundtrack created by the techno band of robots.
Tokobot can be regarded as an extremely unique and entertaining game. This game can be regarded as something completely fresh and different, with hardly any precedents, other than maybe Pikmin. It is definitely not a simple or easy game to play either. It will definitely offer hours of mind bending enjoyment. Tokobot is a complete package deal with a completely unique gameplay, challenging levels, and excellent organization.
