Crush: Strangeness for the PSP

A puzzle game usually does not offer excitement, logic and weirdness at the same time, but the PSP game Crush is an exception. This weird puzzle game is entirely different from almost every other puzzle game to date. It does not directly involve you in solving one puzzle after another. Instead it follows a storyline, and makes you understand the reason behind the creation of each puzzle, before you eventually solve them.

Danny, the game’s main character, is a restless person suffering from insomnia. So, in order to get himself cured, he goes to the Freudian psychologist Dr. Reubens whose cure methodology seems to be a little bit weird. To cure Danny, he creates a device called CRUSH, short for Cognitive Regression Utilizing Psychiatric Heuristics. But eventually Danny points out that it should be named CRUPH and starts his wired journey into his own mind to fix up things and cure his sleeping disorder.

This is the point where you get involved in the game and actually begin to control Danny’s movements. In fact, from this point onwards you are Danny and will be left in a 3D plus 2D abstract platform, where you have to unravel secrets, collect a certain number of Danny’s lost marbles and finally explore the exit to the next level. Unlike other puzzle games, where you are restricted to operating in a fixed environment, Crush (PSP) allows you move around and change the platform from 3D to 2D. This feature makes the game more interesting and challenging, as the type of platform which is suitable for you will depend on the position of the Danny, the camera angle, and the objective. Changing from 3D to 2D, or vice versa, changes the game scenario incredibly, as it creates new options that were hidden beforehand. You have to complete the entire puzzle by changing your surroundings in this manner. So if you want to help Danny find his lost marbles, and like puzzle games, then you could give this one a try.
