Any fan of the arcade classic Frogger, should know that the legendary game is actually available on both the Nintendo DS and PSP in the form of Frogger Helmet Chaos, as well as on the Xbox, PlayStation 2 and GameCube as Frogger: Ancient Shadow. Both the titles involve 3D mechanics and both revolve around the concept of classic Frogger arcade game.

You’ll notice the similarity between the PSP Frogger and the classic Frogger immediately. Obviously, the closest similarities are with the game’s graphics and sound, while the gameplay is a little more revolutionary. The title features a Crocodile scientist named Dr. Wani, as the villain who wants to conquer the minds of other native animals by putting a mind control helmet on them. Frogger turns violent when his pal Lumpy ends up with a helmet on his head, and then he decides to rescue his friends and native animals from Dr. Wani’s trap. This is the actual plot the features the comical appearance of characters and full voice narration.

The game’s core gamplay is based on approximately 30 levels. These levels include everything from guiding Frogger through floating platforms, past platform enemies, through various block and switch bases puzzles and other obstacles. Control is the distinguishing element between Frogger: Helmet Chaos (PSP) and the traditional ones. There’s plenty of jumping, pushing and pulling involved, and fortunately the gamer friendly controls make executing these stunts fairly fluid. In face, Frogger hops, he never actually walks, so pushing the control pad in a direction forces him to hop. By pressing the jump button he’ll leap an extra space and to make him jump, just press vertical jump button. Frogger will continuously take two jumps with a ground smash and for that you merely have to press the vertical jump button twice. Frogger’s tongue and hands can be used for grabbing by pressing the grab button. All Frogger fans should not be without this addicting sequel of the classic.
