One such extraordinary game that swept the gaming markets all over the world is Jeanne d’Arc. The game was released first in the end of 2006. The sophisticated labs of Level-5 are the origin of this game.
Jeanne d’Arc is a strategic game that had its story line taken from the ancient history of France. Among the few historic characters of France, one important name would be Joan of Arc. This historical character is of great importance in the French history and also among the French. A young girl who was supposed to have been talking to God is Joan of Arc. She was a warrior who managed to unite the country and eventually fight back at the invading English forces.
The storyline of the game starts quite before the hundred year’s war with an ancient battle known as the War of the Reapers. The demon lord was fought against by the united people with the help of the sacred gems and the holy armlets numbering five. Even after several attempts, they were not successful in destroying the evil. This creates a grave situation during the hundred year’s war. A horde of creatures including the Demon Lord is released by the Duke of Bedford.
Jeanne would be initially assisted by two of her friends Liane and Roger to help her spread the word. Moving forward, she gains more allies to fight towards the liberation of France. As the player moves forward with the game, his powers could be boosted by collecting skill stones. Red, blue, green and purple are the different colored skill stones that enhance the different skills of the player. The well balanced tactical strategy and fast paced action with rich game mechanics are the attractive features of the game. But the game is not at alll an RTS like, say, Warhammer 40.000: Squad Command. Nevertheless, the extremely deep gameplay in Jeanne d’Arc with an interesting twist on a well known tale provides the necessary excitement for the players. The top notch graphics sound and gameplay of the Jeanne d’Arc makes it an outstanding one.
