I’m sure most of us enjoyed the Star Wars series of games for the consoles. There were many, and they were good. Well, now that series has expanded a little bit, and in an awesome way too. In September 2006, the PlayStation Portable saw the release of the second installment in the LEGO Star Wars series, the LEGO Star Wars II: The original Trilogy.

As the name suggests, the game follows the story of the original trilogy, except everyone is downsized to LEGO mode. It’s an awfully cute game, and a must have for all Star- Wars fans. Lego Star Wars II: The Original Trilogy has improved on its predecessor, The empire strikes back, in almost all ways to deliver one of the most remember able experiences ever on the PlayStation Portable and the Star Wars series.

From music to stage design to visual presentation and jokes, almost all aspects of the game are improved in the sequel. There are even a few added extras to make the game better and some mini games too.

The controls are similar to all other action games, with actions for jumping, attacking and the likes. Attacks include gunshots or light saber slices, which get you through most enemies, and some bosses, which is quite similar or other action games. But, that’s about it. That’s where the similarities end.

In LEGO Star Wars II, you’ll be able to control a minimum of two characters at a time, that number extending up to six. You can quickly switch between being a Jedi, a droid, a rebel or any other creature from the star wars universe.

There are tons of puzzles mixed up with battles, which makes the game excessively fun to play, giving you the ability to sometimes build walkers, or make your own flight of steps and use them. Multiplayer hasn’t been left out either. The previous experience has been tweaked for better use of the ‘drop-in drop-out’ co-op play. The character creation is beautiful, with many features to choose from. Playing with vehicles is more fun, as you can roam around in them, instead of the previous on-rail system.

For those who want to relive the trilogy, or for the star wars newbie, this game is awesome in terms of story and gameplay alike.
