This latest version is very impressive and offers many improvements over its predecessor. For instance, this editiont offers a wide degree of customization and numerous alternatives to make the gameplay more interesting and exhilarating. When you go through the game you’ll feel as if you are watching a match. This is because the graphics are astonishing and make the players and atmosphere appear both realistic and natural.

One thing which remains uncorrected is the absence of major clubs, which give limited options to gamers. Newcastle and Tottenham now replace Arsenal and Manchester United, which have reverted back to North London and Man Red. In Pro Evolution Soccer 2008 (PSP) you will also notice major improvements in the French, Dutch and Italian leagues. A gamer can construct his/her own team with name edited players if desired.

Concerning concern modes, PES2008 has lot to offer like single matches, world tour, leagues, regional tournament, training sessions, ad-hoc multiplayer and konami cup. The master league breathes new life into soccer oriented titles as it provides a full season of play and allows you to manage the team along the way. You will feel more attached to your team as you are authorized to juggle salaries, player transfers and keep track of your club’s finances. World Tour and standard league competitions will provide more scope to perform as it involves several tasks, including winning a comfortable victory of two goals or higher over your opposition, getting a few last-minute goals in to cinch a win, or performing a hat trick. Overall a very decent title, which no soccer fan should go without.

PES 2008 - Your PSP will now include thinking games too

Posted on May 5, 2008 12:18:38 PM

Smart games are always fun to play. We are past the dumb computer moves that the challengers or the opponents seem to be making. Run away in the opposite direction; not even looking at you when you play - you know? Things like that. But then, the PSP is seeing a rapid succession of games that are really smart. For instance, check out PES 2008.

PES 2008 features a brand new intelligence system, called Teamvision, that adapts and reacts to players own game play styles to ensure that the computer controlled opponents are always challenging and forcing the player to think and adapt their style of play to avoid losing.

According to Metacritic.com “It learns counter attacks that target your weaknesses and look to exploit any repetitive tactics players use. Defenders react better to danger, closing down the ball and charging at shots and the goalkeepers hold shots that are closer to them as well. Teammates make more intelligent runs into space and the close control has been sharpened to ensure quick and fluid passing and speedy attacks can be built. The next generation versions also feature extensive edit modes so players can completely customize their PES 2008 experience.”

It replicates the actual console versions well but still can’t match up to the sheer firepower the bigger ones have, However, if you had always wanted a great game on the move and didn’t mind a little bit of a compromise, well, it happens to play itself very well indeed on the miniature screen of the PSP. Arguably, it is one of the best soccer games in the market for the PSP and is a must- own. If you like soccer, you can’t help owning this one.
