You can tag as many friends as you like through the attractive tag feature and build a formidable team. Wireless connection and a choice of playing flexibility allow the gamer to switch cards mid battle and also adopt multiplayer options. A game as simple as collecting cards is made engaging with the multiple models such as Jaden Yuki and Axel Brodie competing. The PSP has a catchy interface and the controls are user friendly. Attractive graphics, blazing sound effects, all go into making this card game hard to not get addicted to.
Adrenaline soars as the virtual world becomes real, and multiple characters duel wirelessly in cyberspace. The Yu-Gi-oh! GX Tag Force 3 PSP game allows for maximum 4 players each with a character name and provides an interesting way to collect and then trade your cards. Yu-Gi-Oh is slowly picking pace in the world of virtual games riding initially on the popularity that the cartoon character has garnered.
The sooner you make a killer deck the better your chances of winning, unlike many other games it has a proper story mode. There are virtual classroom sessions in the academy where the rules of the game are taught. Winning brings in virtual points and you go to the school store with it to get more virtual cards. This game is an interesting blend of a game of collectible cards, good ideas and turn based strategy. Neverland Card Battles, though an interesting concept, could have been handled better. The tutorials are expansive, unclear and difficult to follow, the visuals and graphics lack in depth and the gameplay is tedious.
Idea Factory, the developer of this game has started the game interestingly enough. Modes include the single-player mode with a back story and an ad-hoc multiplayer mode without any storyline.
Story follows an exotic sequence from the Neverland universe influenced by Japanese anime. You are Galahad and you are in possession of the magical spectral cards. The pack of cards itself is part of the gate that has imprisoned an evil God Hellgaia who is out to destroy humanity. Teen guardian of the Gods Egma resembling a leprechaun summons you to battle and protest the breaking down of this gate. In fact, you will be fighting to defend the entire Neverland. And don’t get confused with the word Neverland, because the anime world in card battles is completey different than anything in Peter Pan - the Legend of Neverland. Back to Neverland Card Battles, where the mechanics are truly innovative. Take control of battle spaces on the checkerboard to take control and earn points. As you move allies as well as the hero Galahad, you change the colour of the board in order to gain more power. Battles themselves are based on a combination of strategy and luck.
The tutorial is quite insipid as it is more of a demo than an actual training. After your teacher Egma gives you a vague explanation of the game fundamentals, the duel that follows is quite difficult and confusing for a novice. There are absolutely no tips regarding movement timing, selection of cards, how to play certain cards and strategies.
Actual campaign is as tough as the tutorial. Here you are up against a computer who seems to get a much more favourable draws all the time. It is not possible to skip campaigns as you have to move forward methodically unlocking campaigns.
With better handling of the gameplay and visuals, this could have been a sure winner. For those who love card collectible games and battle campaigns, this is an entertaining game for your favourite PSP.

Viewtiful Joe: Red Hot Rumble comes with a simple yet interesting storyline. This is an adaptation from the ‘anime‘ series and is about Captain Blue, who is in the process of auditioning people for playing various characters in his movie. A confused Captain Blue thinks of a plan to audition them and at last ends up with the concept of making them fight against each other to determine their powers. The playable characters include Viewtiful Joe, Sexy Silvia, Blade Master Alastor, Captain Blue Jr, Captain Blue, Dark Emperor Jet Black, Coordinator Sprocket, Charles The Third, Hulk Davidson, Gran Bruce, Miss Bloody Rachel, Dante and several other characters.
The game has several mode including the versus mode, party battle mode, single player mode, etc which keeps the players quite engaging. In the versus mode, a player can opt a player with whom he wishes to fight. Party battle mode is a multiplayer mode which permits the players to fight with their friends virtual characters. The developments of Viewtiful Joe - Red Hot Rumble are given in dialogue boxes and the players have to proceed accordingly. The game with its movie set as a background, lots of action gives the players the feeling of watching a real action movie. Another attractive feature in this game is that the players can use the elements from the background as their weapon to attack their enemies which makes the game, a lively one.
Coming to the technical aspects of the game, the controls are smooth and easy. Moving the characters across the screen, landing powerful punches, kicks and combos on enemies is too simple. In this version of Viewtiful Joe, the most satisfying thing is the inclusion of VFX powers and special attacks which enables the players to attack their enemies with high intensity just by a click. The trial mode comes as a help to the new comers. Viewtiful Joe: Red Hot Rumble received lot of appreciation for its sound effects from critics all over the world. With a very strong character casting, interesting background, heavy action, good sound effects, Viewtiful Joe: Red Hot Rumble comes as a complete package for gamers.

The Yu-Gi-Oh! GX Tag Force 2 is yet another successful release from Konami. The earlier versions of the game have been widely recognized for its exciting features. The game is highly challenging and will test the adrenaline of the player in every level. The game includes battles through the myths and mechanics of various layers and reaching the success point. The mistakes committed in the game can make it really complex and difficult to finish.
The game has already gained fame based on the top-rated Yu-Gi-Oh! GX series from Cartoon Network. The Yu-Gi-Oh! GX Tag Force 2 is a combat version of the original series for the PSPs. The game is initiated at the Duel Academy and the Tag Duel Tournament is the most important event of the year. The tournament has participants from all around the world and they are highly competitive. The tournament will have hundreds of teams with two members each.
The player will be introduced in to the Duel Academy as a single. He has to explore the academy and find the perfect partner for himself. After doing so, the team gets to face its opponents. The team has to exhibit their fighting skills to pull it to the next level. The additional features of the game include more cards than ever before, and new cards and new deck recipes could be added and used. The Ad Hoc feature of the game enables the multiplayer option. Many exciting add on could be downloaded for the PSP and the game could be made more challenging.
However, the critics say that there was not much of work involved in developing the PSP version of the game. It was just a copy of the previous version. Lots of comments have been made on the complexity of the game. The game consumes more time in the player understanding it. Beginners should sit through long tutorials or read through pages of help menus to get hold of the basics. But once the game captures the interest of the player, it becomes a part of the everyday gaming schedule.

Naruto: Ultimate Ninja Heroes 2: The Phantom Fortress is the second game in the series for the PlayStation Portable. It is a casual fighting game. It may just as well be a revamped version of its predecessor, and while it still has its own share of problems, you’ll find Phantom Fortress to be more entertaining, and considerably longer.
For those who aren’t familiar with the series, here are the basics. Phantom Fortress, like it’s predecessor, works on two 2- dimensional planes, one with the foreground and one with the background environments. So even though the environments and characters are 3D, deep down, the game is still a 2D fighter.
The gameplay is relatively simple, as all attacks accessible with the circle button, and combos are executed with the added directional input, and maybe a couple more button presses. Standard to most Naruto titles, each character in Naruto: Ultimate Ninja 2 PSP has a Chakra bar, in addition to a health bar, which determines how many and what level of jutsus, or techniques, you can deploy. The player can also use items during fights.
The battles can be quite easy for most of the gaming enthusiasts who just want to have a good Naruto experience, as all attacks involve button bashing the circle button. However, one can get a lot more out of the game by actually using the items and advanced controls.
The story line has been extended a bit to do justice to the game’s title, by adding a new mode known as the Mugenjo mode. In this arc, Naruto is thrown into a fortress known, obviously, as the Phantom Fortress, which sucks life out of everything around it. Having that appear about the Hidden Leaf Village poses an obvious problem, so Naruto is faced with the task of getting rid of it.
The mode takes you back to the days of Dungeon crawling, moving your character’s icon between rooms, facing enemies and completing mini-games. A number of different scrolls activate different game types as well. There are tons of other goodies to unlock during the game, like artwork and songs and other stuff, making the games overall experience an enjoyable one.

The title immediately conjures up associations with the sci-fi anime movie and series. We obviously know Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex will feature some very high tech combat action, and what better way to explore the crazy futuristic Ghost in the Shell world than with a first person shooter.
The game is the first ever Ghost in the Shell title for the PSP. The sound is also done in such a fantastic way as to really add to the game’s mood and atmosphere. The single player game is short in length, but delivers unbelievable action, whereas the multiplayer mode, while technically offering unlimited action, is rather stale and monotonous.
The game completely follows the anime theme upon which it is based. Yes, you’ll play as a member of the elite police force named Section 9. As a cop in Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex (PSP), you’re on a mission to unravel a convoluted and mysterious plot from a terrorist gang. It’s obvious that you’ll be empowered with heavy duty weapons for accomplishing this task, but you will also need to cleverly use your savvy sleuthing skills as well. In some missions you’re employed to escort helpless VIP’s to safety and to gather official information you’ll need to kidnap an official.
The title involves 6 chapters and each of them is divided into 3 to 4 missions, which each mission lasting a couple of hours. This means you can actually complete the single player game pretty rapidly, even though the game does get progressively more difficult. A must try for any fans of the anime series.
