The original Worms 2D series was very successful and an effort to replicate that success has been on for many years now. Finally, the Worms: Open Warfare has been made for the Playstation Portable that has brought relief to a lot of faces. The game has followed the typical genre of characteristic gameplay and the designs of the game perfectly fit the PlayStation Portable. The strategy that has gone into the making of the game is very simple to make the game look uncomplicated. The moves are simple as there are no trees, no gathering of resources and no issues regarding unit balance. The gamer will find worms on the big rock which keep taking turns to annihilate the other. The gamer will have his team of four worms battling three other teams and will have to eat into their energy levels to annihilate them.
The worms are very cute and shout grunts while battling. There are a lot of weapons to which the worms have access to. These weapons range from hand grenades to shotguns and exploding sheep to bananas. There are 20 distinct weapons to be used and the protagonists have a lot to do in the Worms: Open Warfare PSP game. Some opponents might not operate generally but will start working when your worm is facing his foe. The battlefields seem to be pretty huge and can be quite unnerving. The Worms game is good for those who believe in playing light games and will be quite entertaining. It has been reasonably priced and will be very exciting to play.

The game Mawaskes on the PSP is developed by Irem. The game resembles the Tetris game, though an odd version of it and it is a simple and engaging puzzle fighter. Here the blocks hit the bottom and fall and you are required to rotate them.
Though the blocks are of the same size, there are different shapes on them. Most of them open about one, two or three blocks for linking, somewhat like Tetris Evolution. As a player you have to link the outline of the shape in order to enclose the shape. This is possible by rotating the blocks.
This game from developer Irem takes a bit of time to get used to but it is quite easy to get the hang of it. There are basically three shapes you work with. However, there is no limit on the size of the shapes that the player can make. In fact, you can even make a shape the size of the entire playing field.
There will not be enough time to do this though as you will be barraged with piles of blocks rained on you constantly. This game features various modes. The classic battle mode is where you play against another player or the computer. Here you create blocks and send it to your opponent.
In another multiplayer mode, two players try their best to manipulate a certain field. Your aim is to make the biggest and best shapes. In this mode it is in your best interest to keep the shapes simple so it is easy to complete before the opponent steals it.
Though the whole game process sounds complicated, it is actually not so. Once you start playing the game, it is quite simple and easy to master. This game at present is available in Japan. There is however no news of its release in other parts of the world. Being just a puzzle game, there should not be any language issues. Mawaskes is an interesting game that should do well anywhere in the world. Enjoy playing the interesting Mawaskes puzzle for hours either on your own or with your friends on your favourite PlayStation Portable.

The games for the PlayStation Portable have multiplied into many kinds and genres. But even now, the gamers keep looking something new and different. The true feeling of a game comes to the gamers’ mind only when he plays the game of the right kind. A game that was initially designed for a different console would hold good for the PSP. But the initial feeling would sometimes make the gamer loose interest. If that is the case, the gamers would be missing something considerable, when it comes to the ‘Mytran Wars’.
As the name goes, the appearance of the game is slightly old. The graphics and the visual features are customized to suit the theme of the game. A gamer who is looking for a happy world of advance wars would not find this game appealing. Mytran Wars PSP has its theme concentrated on a war that is led by a single player force. The camera is located at an elevated level, which could be rotated using the analog nub. The playing field is grid based and different square type grids are available as options. The various square grids offer various defensive characteristics like woodland, open, mountain etc to strengthen the game modes. Another feature of the game is the Fog of War. This feature speaks about the way the orders of unit attacks are selected. The graphics of the game-play is enjoyable. It does not annoy the players and is well aligned with the story line.
Unlike the usual war games, the commanders are directly involved in the battles. The commanders would lead their team against the enemy forces and their death would be the end of the game. Even though the game is dependant on the survival of the characters, some characters in the game are simply expendable, while the others must be retained to continue the story. As the game advances, the player gets both money and research points. The research points could be put into use to bring some new components into the game’s part shop. The game is aimed at the hardcore gamers and would certainly be challenging to the beginners.

Super Stardust Portable is an adaptation of the arcade shooter game released on PS3 earlier. On the PSP, this game provides players with a space ship dashing around five planets. You can protect your spaceship with the help three types of weapons. A bomb and a boost is also at your disposal to enable you to protect your delicate vessel from hooligans and space rocks.
Content in the PSP version of the game is similar to PS3. There are five planets, each one being a stage. Each planet throws at you a lot of enemies and asteroids and you have to fight them to cross five phases. The fifth phase sets you up in confrontation with the boss. There are different modes you can choose from including the Arcade and Planet mode. In the Planet mode, you can play just one planet while in the Arcade mode, you go through five planets automatically looped to the higher difficulty levels.
PSP features the analog nub which controls movement of map, the face buttons with which you can choose and the right and left triggers which are for activating and boosting bombs. D Pad up and down controls are used for handling weapons like Ice Splitter, Gold Melter and Rock Crusher.
Super Stardust Portable is a quite smooth flowing. An interesting addition is the Impact mode. Here you substitute shooting with boosting through planets. Your speed picks up as you go around boosting through more things.
All this is fine for those who are playing Super Stardust for the first time. For those who are experienced playing this game on the Sony PlayStation 3, the portable version is bound to be a disappointment. Precise and well designed controls in the original version feels much better than the difficulty faced on the portable moving around the analog nub. Shooting with the face buttons is also not as smooth and precise as the player would like it to be.
Another disadvantageous difference from the original version is the gameplay technique where you could move as well as change weapons simultaneously. Doing that is pretty difficult and awkward here. On the whole, this arcade game is enjoyable for those playing Super Stardust for the first time.

Mega Man Maverick Hunter X was created and developed by Capcom. This series of Mega Man has once again become a success story besides retaining the impressive performance. Everything from the presentation, story, characterization and control is perfect. It is a remake of the Mega Man ‘X’ adventure and thus gives a nostalgic feeling. Even though it is a remake, the creators have succeeded in maintaining the spirit of the game. Every gamer would enjoy this game for the thrill and adventure it sustains throughout. All those who have played the original version will experience a wide range of changes in the graphics and level designs. These are quite catchy than the original version and makes the game look like a new one.
The developers have given very good attention on the presentation of the game. They emerged successful as it is looking ravishing than the original version. Polygonal models in MegaMan Maverick Hunter X have replaced the usually flat backgrounds typical of the series. The graphics which follow the explosions are mind blowing and deserves special mention. The animated cut scenes add energy to the overall format of the game and make it refreshing. Actions like wall jump, charge shoot are the same as the original. The locations of the hidden armor, weapons have been changed and thus succeed in giving you some serious work. The menu enables you to view the weapons of the bosses and also gives you the opportunity to swap them. You can also view the number of sub-tanks collected and their properties.
The most amazing feature of this game is the vile mode. In the vile mode, the players can play as the Maverick vile. Maverick vile is more like a superman with some extraordinary features. He possesses shoulder and leg cannons, mech vehicle and super weapons which Mega Man doesn’t possess. Even the normal mode in this game would appear hard. You can make use of the facility available in your PSP and play with your friends. Thus the Mega Man Maverick Hunter X comes as an interesting and challenging game. Even though remake version of the games fails to click in market, this game was successful in drawing gamers and also received good reviews from critics.

For those who love puzzles, the game of Frantix on the PSP is challenging and exciting. There are at least 180 puzzles to be solved. In this 3D puzzle game, you as a player are required to open an exit and collect gems. In the process, as you go through the maze you will be dodging crates and avoiding enemies and traps set by them. A series of puzzle games takes you through interesting sequences before you reach the finish of the game.
It is not easy to collect the gems. It takes some serious effort. A lot of puzzles have to be solved. Levels are often replete with challenges including quicksand, water, lava, locked doors, creatures and traps. There are quite a few stone blocks, crates and bombs you can throw around. However, it is not possible to jump or attack in Frantix. With the help of the bombs, blocks and crates, it is possible to construct temporary bridges in dangerous territory, trigger switches and kill enemies.
You can find an exit and make your way out of one level as soon as you find enough gems. You keep unlocking puzzles on your way from one level to another. There are themed worlds numbering six and each of them consists of fifteen to forty puzzles. Though the load time for each level is only around five seconds, gamers find this a bit irritating.
Some levels are more challenging and exciting than the others. Levels can be cleared only by following a set order of moves after assessing the puzzles. Certain other puzzles are easier requiring you to complete a set of moves in a particular time. Controls and angle of viewing poses quite a challenge in all the levels. Your movement with the analogue stick or the D pad is restricted to four directions and on a grid which is invisible.
The game could have been incorporated with a better visual presentation. The two movies that are featured in this game include the game credits where you have the names scrolling down and an animated film The ChubbChubbs. On the whole, if you simply love solving puzzles, you can enjoy this game on your favourite PSP.

Atlus Inc. has announced that it has gotten the publishing rights for its new game title called Hammerin’ Hero in North America. It’s basically an arcade-style, old school side-scrolling beat ‘em up game that is going to hit the PSP soon. The game brings you Gen, the popular game character that loves justice and is a carpenter by profession. Your role in the game is to help him fight against Hyosuke Kuromoku and his evil construction company as they are planning to throw out Gen’s neighbors from their homes.
The main attraction of this game is that it breaks boredom. Gen will take up several jobs during the adventure. You will see him acting as a Baseball player (but without playing baseball in depth like in the Bigs game) in one round and in another round he will become a DJ . The keeps the player excited during the game play because they have to master a new type of skills every time. The game is lengthy enough to keep you engaged. The whole adventure is spread across 12 different stages with each stage throwing a unique and tougher challenge in front of Gen. But if you use his hammer in the right way then the Hyosuke Kuromoku and his evil construction company is bound to get destroyed.
The Hamemrin’ Hammer will offer you a comic type adventure and has been rated as E10+, i.e. it can be played by every child whose age is 10 years or above. The game voices are available in English as well as in Japanese. As you take on different jobs including Baseball player, driver, chef, DJ etc. you will get new costumes and some enhanced attacking powers. Another attraction of the game is it supports Ad-Hoc multiplayer game play. Two players can play together to compete for the best score on each level. As you precede trough different levels you will also get chance to make allies in battle, collect lots of items and unlock two more playable characters.

Everybody knows Pac Man. He’s the little yellow ball that made video game history. PacMan has topped the gaming charts for ages, and is still considered one of the best games. There have been many spin offs such as Mrs. PacMan, Jr. Pac Man, etc.
Namco Bandai, the guys who brought you games like Pac Man world, and the likes, has announced that Pac Man World Rally is all set for release for the PS2, Game Cube, PC and PSP.
Pac Man World Rally is being developed by Smart Bomb interactive, and it is a kart racing game, featuring characters such as Pac Man, Jr. Pac Man, Mrs. Pac Man and also some cross title characters like the prince from Katamari, and let’s not forget our beloved Pac Man world villains, Spooky, Toc Man and Erwin, also featuring a brand new villain, Pac Devil. These are among the fifteen available playable characters in Pac Man World Rally. The title will have some vibrant stages with unique power ups and different attacks, in what might be the most exciting racer from the Pac Man universe.
The game is expected to be absolutely fantastic, with great tracks where players can compete either against each other or against the computer as one among many characters from the Namco Bandai universe; in fact some even expect it to become one of those truly legendary race car games. The game has a battle mode, where players face off against each other, racing and fighting all at the same time, with weapons that haven’t been seen in any kart racer before.
There’s also ways to eliminate your competition. Ways that you never would have expected, such as the Pac Mobile. If you gobble enough Pac Dots, you will turn into a giant Pac Mobile, no matter which character you are, and you can eat up your competition. There are also tons of shortcuts in all the tracks, for you to outwit and out run your opponents.
Pac Man world Rally has some great features, which are much needed for kart games. One can only wait and see if Pac Man World Rally lives up to it’s name.
