Posted on Mar 22, 2009 04:43:20 PM

An awesome game of baseball has been skillfully produced on the formidable PSP hardware by the development team in the MLB 09: The Show. The latest version of this game resembles the previous version which is better as no MLB fan wants a break up of a championship team.

First time players of The Show are in for a grand treat. Fantastic visuals in this game are colourful and smooth flowing and are supported by a strong and solid gameplay. Of course you can’t expect this handheld version to compare with the version on the PS3, just like the Major League Baseball 2K8 PS3 version is far different than its PSP version. Nevertheless, you will find MLB 09: The Show for the PSP to be surprisingly fun and well made. There are various options both online and offline and this interesting game of baseball comes in a comprehensive package.

As a player, you have to be extremely patient and practice well to hone your skills to be successful in this Major League Baseball game. This is true whether you are playing individually to pursue dreams in the 162 game seasons or playing the online league. Playing online is a fun experience too. The Show is sure to keep you hooked with its challenge even with default settings.

Battle of pitcher-batter depends on how good you are at guessing pitches. The pitch combination and location input is very important when you are at the plate. This also comes perfect with a lot of practice and a considerable amount of intuitive skills. It is quite a feat hitting the ball in a consistent manner. Pitching is a challenging feat too. As you play in the low minors, you have plenty of opportunity to work on your pitching skills. Playing in the game, you realize it is better to sacrifice early bruises and bumps in order to achieve in the later stages and be included in the Hall of Fame.

As in the earlier versions, empty dugouts and umpires are missing. It feels funny hearing invisible voice telling you strikes, foul, etc. On the whole, MLB 09 is a fantastic baseball experience. It provides players with hours of enjoyable gaming with a startling depth. This fascinating game is sure to keep both the young and the old hooked for quite some time. For all the baseball fans out there, this game is a must have to play on your favourite Playstation Portabls.

The BIGS for the PSP

Posted on Oct 21, 2008 01:41:34 PM

The BIGs is a popular arcade baseball game for the PSP. As a very fast-paced title, this unique game offers PSP enthusiasts a satisfying and exciting hitting and pitching experience. With an excellent style, presentation, every baseball enthusiast who yearns for some fast-paced excitement is sure to love BIGS.

With big homers and bigger strikeouts, the PSP BIGS packs some fast paced action filled with wicked pitches and huge home runs. Of course, the game on the handheld could never offer the same amount of realistic involvement offered by its counterpart The Bigs - Baseball (Wii). Nevertheless, a face button on the controller controls each of the pitches. Hold the corresponding button for a set duration of time to pitch past the meter mark. The trick is to hold the button for the right duration. A little too short or longer duration will result in tipping the pitch to the batter.

The main factor here is to hold on to the ability to throw the pitch perfectly. Even as the game progresses, this ability decreases, and offers more challenge to the player. The player has the option of giving up some hits in order to increase his pitching ability.

The turbo feature is an interesting part of the game. For every successful pitch, your turbo bar is filled to a certain extent. As the bar gets completely filled, you can activate the turbo by pressing a button to provide you with an exciting ability to pitch in such a way that it is very difficult to hit. Turbo also charges you with an extra zing in your fastballs and as you throw your breaking balls, it adds more breaks to it.

The power meter feature gets similarly charged when you hit powerful home runs and strike out some great hitters. Hitting is as exciting as pitching. The base running and fielding is challenging too. As you run into a catcher at top speed the experience takes your breath away, especially for the first time.

The rookie challenge feature lets you create a player and lead him to the World Series. The challenge and fun is endless and you are sure to have non-stop excitement and enjoyment with the BIGS for the PSP. BIGS gives a new dimension altogether to the game of baseball on a handheld console.

Major League Baseball 2K7: For baseball lovers

Posted on May 29, 2008 03:26:38 PM

Hey Guys, Desperate to watch Jon Miller and Joe Morgan doing a fantastic job by calling the action? Then you must go for Major League Baseball 2K7 which is not only an improved version as compared to last year version, but also contains mind blowing content and rock solid game play.

MLB 2K7 has come up with realistic graphics, which create an excitement in one’s mind. But it’s tough to determine the pitch; speed and location as it gives you more time to swing. It has not revolutionized the whole concept of baseball games, but still there’s plenty to do in this version. As the options available are quick game, season, franchise, GM career, situation mode, manager showdown, tournament and various forms of home-run derby. In this PSP version you will not face any problem while rating the players. It also provides you with an option to download the latest rosters of your choice. This version supports infrastructure and ad hoc play, and facilitates the only play options, which are exhibition and home run derby. Guys, if you want to determine the pitch, speed and break for that you are required to press a button and another button for accuracy. While playing the game you will feel disappointed at one point when the catcher does not call automatically for pitches. The Player models are better looking in this whereas there isn’t a whole lot of difference in their body shape, sizes and types. You will notice varieties of camera angles, which make it appear more realistic. And now if we talk about our favorite Jon Miller and Joe Morgan for this version it deserves applause as their commentary sounds natural and accurate.

On the whole, if you love to play baseball games then you must try this PSP version as it has some changes which makes it slightly better than the previous versions of baseball games.
