The original Worms 2D series was very successful and an effort to replicate that success has been on for many years now. Finally, the Worms: Open Warfare has been made for the Playstation Portable that has brought relief to a lot of faces. The game has followed the typical genre of characteristic gameplay and the designs of the game perfectly fit the PlayStation Portable. The strategy that has gone into the making of the game is very simple to make the game look uncomplicated. The moves are simple as there are no trees, no gathering of resources and no issues regarding unit balance. The gamer will find worms on the big rock which keep taking turns to annihilate the other. The gamer will have his team of four worms battling three other teams and will have to eat into their energy levels to annihilate them.
The worms are very cute and shout grunts while battling. There are a lot of weapons to which the worms have access to. These weapons range from hand grenades to shotguns and exploding sheep to bananas. There are 20 distinct weapons to be used and the protagonists have a lot to do in the Worms: Open Warfare PSP game. Some opponents might not operate generally but will start working when your worm is facing his foe. The battlefields seem to be pretty huge and can be quite unnerving. The Worms game is good for those who believe in playing light games and will be quite entertaining. It has been reasonably priced and will be very exciting to play.

Twenty Years in the making, it seems as if the Final Fantasy franchise has finally come full circle. Its first appearance was on Famicom 20 years ago in Japan and since then its popularity has only been growing. The assortment of systems that it has appeared on is huge in numbers with the latest instalment being Final Fantasy I & II: Dawn of Souls. The anniversary of the Final fantasy features everything that has made this series a cult including the initial ones that came out two decades ago. The visuals of the game have undergone drastic changes in comparison to the original one and the characters have also been made quite crisp. The designs for the new bosses are also quite intriguing. The sound tracks are so engaging that they put the real feel into the Square Enix game. The best of it, the originality is retained.
There are a couple of dungeons that have been implemented into the game to enhance its appeal. The encounters are random and have been packaged with a lot chutzpah. Gamers with a lot of patience will find this simple concept to be very engaging. In the Final Fantasy PSP game the player has to guide the four heroes to their destination of finding the four crystals so that the world is saved. A lot of monsters have to be fought and the humour is to keep the interest going. A lot of time will be spent in the game in boats, ships and in wandering. Buy it for its simplicity and play it for enjoyment. You will get value for money with this RPG game on the PlayStation Portable.

Mega Man Legends is a game that has averted the chance from jumping from 2D technology to 3D technology. This has happened courtesy the implementation of RPG technology. The developer Capcom did come out with a lot of mindless sequels, but now it seems like they have finally hit the bulls-eye with the new game that has captured the attention of gamers all throughout.
This game was touted to be a real eye turner and has proved out to be one. The way the game commences, finishes and is played shows that it easily gets into the 2D mode better than any one. The surprising element is that the game has been in the gaming market for over a decade but could never make an impression. With some change in features and in interface, the MegaMan Legends PSP version has certainly done something which no other game could do. The blue buddy is the main protagonist who is controlled by the gamer with the character being navigated through a 3D world full of extensive landscapes and inherited towns. Blue buddy has suitable company in the form of Roll, his sister, Barrel the Grandpa and Data the adorable monkey.
There is a huge assortment of armaments which the Mega Man can make use of apart from jumping, kicking, diving and retaliating. The character can also be given external additions like the buster arms, rapid fire and increase in energy. Mega Man Legends certainly has shown a lot of variations in the past couple of editions. The PlayStation Portable game is reasonably priced and should be played because of its sheer entertaining capability.

Originally hitting the stands in 1988 the Final Fantasy series has stood testament to change. Two decades and hundreds of developmental changes later the Final Fantasy II for PSP finally hits the stands. Published by Square Enix this new version and a successor to the first part of Final Fantasy, has seen the incorporation of many modifications.
The new game does away with some of the festering problems in the earlier version like the two-second load time while accessing the menu. Apart from changes in technology the developers have introduced an updated artwork of the 2D environment, better sound and introduced new characters. The Final Fantasy II PSP game’s storyline is original and in this you form a part of the four survivors who escape from the wrath of the evil emperor. Now on a quest to avenge the death of their parents and stop the merciless emperor you must face-off against his army and monsters from the demonic realm and ultimately save the planet. This re-mastered version has better graphics, updated camera angels that offer newer perspectives and a 16:9 widescreen adaptability. The word memory system is a fresh feature where you will have to memorise certain keywords said to you by the non-player characters. These words when repeated later unlock new moves and help you gain information. The only way to increase health is by taking on more shots. The character abilities increase or decrease with the change in the manner of fighting. Supposing you choose to use the axe all the time even though your strength and skill set for weapons increases your abilities with magic decrease.
The Final Fantasy II is remastered version of the old world nostalgia and is a classic role player game. However we are in the age when the PlayStation Portable world is brimming with dramatic developmental changes and engaging in new forms of gameplay the game will do little to move you unless you are a die hard fan of the franchise.

Mega Man Maverick Hunter X was created and developed by Capcom. This series of Mega Man has once again become a success story besides retaining the impressive performance. Everything from the presentation, story, characterization and control is perfect. It is a remake of the Mega Man ‘X’ adventure and thus gives a nostalgic feeling. Even though it is a remake, the creators have succeeded in maintaining the spirit of the game. Every gamer would enjoy this game for the thrill and adventure it sustains throughout. All those who have played the original version will experience a wide range of changes in the graphics and level designs. These are quite catchy than the original version and makes the game look like a new one.
The developers have given very good attention on the presentation of the game. They emerged successful as it is looking ravishing than the original version. Polygonal models in MegaMan Maverick Hunter X have replaced the usually flat backgrounds typical of the series. The graphics which follow the explosions are mind blowing and deserves special mention. The animated cut scenes add energy to the overall format of the game and make it refreshing. Actions like wall jump, charge shoot are the same as the original. The locations of the hidden armor, weapons have been changed and thus succeed in giving you some serious work. The menu enables you to view the weapons of the bosses and also gives you the opportunity to swap them. You can also view the number of sub-tanks collected and their properties.
The most amazing feature of this game is the vile mode. In the vile mode, the players can play as the Maverick vile. Maverick vile is more like a superman with some extraordinary features. He possesses shoulder and leg cannons, mech vehicle and super weapons which Mega Man doesn’t possess. Even the normal mode in this game would appear hard. You can make use of the facility available in your PSP and play with your friends. Thus the Mega Man Maverick Hunter X comes as an interesting and challenging game. Even though remake version of the games fails to click in market, this game was successful in drawing gamers and also received good reviews from critics.

Yet another compilation title, this time from the world of Sega, is the Sega Genesis Collection. At the time when Genesis was released, it had the best graphics, and some really awesome innovative games. There were addictive puzzles, awesome RPGs and some fast action titles as well. With this collection of games, the Genesis was an awesome console.
Now reliving that moment on the small screen, The Sega Genesis Collection features some of the best games which were available for the Genesis, down on the PSP. Nostalgic gamers will find this title to be just what they want from the Sega Universe.
This compilation features 28 games from the Genesis, in addition to five other Sega Arcade games that are unlockable. It has some of the best games ever on the genesis, such as Phantasy Star II, III and IV, Sonic 1 and 2, Ecco the dolphin 1, 2 and Jr., Comix Zone, Alex Kidd and the likes. The Bonus Arcade Games are Space Fury, Congo Bongo, Astro Blaster, Eliminator and Super Zaxxon.
Some games like Ecco Jr. and Decap Attack don’t quite cut it to the best games list, but most of the others do, making the collection truly worth the buy. The Phantasy Star IV RPG game is probably one of the best ever of its kind. Sega didn’t add in Widescreen support for all the games, but the games still fit well in to the PSP screen, and give you an awesome experience.
All games can be saved at any time now, and gamers can visit the “museum” in most games, which contains a history of the game, and maybe even some tips and tricks. The menus could have been worked on a little more, but that’s not what we’re here for is it?
Another major plus to the title is the integration of multiplayer. Now other PSPs can even join you midgame. That’s an awesome feature, and there’s no lag or slowing down when implementing it… Kudos to Sega.
Sega Genesis Collection is on of the best compilations available for the PSP, and every old school Sega fan should go out and get one.

Even after fifteen years, Lemmings is a puzzle game that enthralls players with its numerous puzzles. Originally released on the Commodore Amiga in the year 1991, Lemmings is all about a rodent that does not have any resemblance to the actual rodents that we see around, yet blatantly disregards its own life just as much as in real life.
As a player, you have to get at over 100 of these critters with the help of various strategies. These include equipping members with skills like blocking, bridge building, digging and avoiding obstacles in their path.
Lemmings is an animation created by designer Mike Dailly and this classic game on Play
Station Portable today still manages to hold players captivated after fifteen years. The improved features in the latest Lemmings PSP edition add to the excitement. These include visuals which are refined, fine tuned audio, option of downloading available content, online sharing, absolutely adaptable to the widescreen and controls of the PSP, etc.
Team 17 is the developer of the latest edition. They have added at least 36 levels of excitement to the already existing 120 levels from the original. Want more? You can also design your own extra levels using the infrastructure mode through the swapped wireless online and the editor. And if this is not enough, Sony promises more levels on its Lemmings Web site soon. Players can share levels which are custom built both ways by linking to the PlayStation 2 versions.
The heavily adapted control system on the PSP comes with a D pad that helps move the cursor around. Lemmings can be made to perform by highlighting a task at the bottom of the screen and pressing the X button. While certain levels may look to be cramped to smoothly assign task to the lemmings, it is not due to any fault of the control system. Rather the game has been particularly designed this way to enhance the challenge.
Levels are split in packs of thirty and are named “tricky”, “fun”, “mayhem” and “taxing”. A brand new editor feature combined with options like choice of background themes and over 320 furniture to choose from to place on different levels, Lemmings is a sure entertainer that provides you with non stop fun on your favorite PSP.

LocoRoco is one of the oddest games to ever hit the PSP, that’s for sure. It’s basically a platformer involving something like lava lamps. Most gamers would agree when I say that there hasn’t ever been a game like this… ever. That isn’t what makes it such a big success, however. On the contrary, it’s a success simply because it’s amazingly entertaining.
LocoRoco is the little something that’s been missing from the PSP library all this while. With the way it is presented, to its weird yet addictive visuals to the crazy infectious sounds and interface, LocoRoco has beaten most games in the PSP library in terms of style and presentation.
LocoRoco’s are basically blobs of goo, with smiley faces!! Now, your objective through each level is to take a LocoRoco from the beginning to the end of a level to the exit. As you move through 40 levels, and five worlds, the objective stays the same… get LocoRoco to the exit.
This isn’t your normal platformer, where you steer a bipedal character through a level. That’s just what it’s not. For starters, LocoRoco doesn’t have legs. In fact, the player never takes control of LocoRoco. It’s only the environment that has to be altered in order to get LocoRoco to the exit.
It’s like you hold the plane where LocoRoco is, and if you want it to move, you tilt it. You play God for Loco’s world. Navigation in Loco Roco is simplified down to the use of just the two shoulder buttons, depending on which way you want the world to tilt. This may sound awfully simple, but it’s also amazingly addictive.
Just rolling won’t really get you anywhere through. You’ll need to add in LocoRoco’s special abilities too. First off, Loco will grow in size as you eat fruit, which then lets you break loco into smaller blobs, which let’s you access previously inaccessible areas.
The environment is brilliant as well. It’s colorful and ever changing, with new visuals and new obstacles to overcome. Each stage is themed, and so it keeps you guessing what things are about.
LocoRoco is a vibrant, cheery game that keeps gamers coming back for more each time.

Handheld devices have seen tons of old school games compiled into a single disc. Capcom Classics Collection Remixed is no exception. The Capcom Classics Collection Remixed is a collection of some of Capcom’s finest classics into a single UMD for the average PSP user.
These compilations don’t just give gamers a lot of variety to choose from, but also have that feeling of nostalgia, and is a great history lesson for those interested to learn what gaming has evolved from.
Capcom Classics Collection Remixed was already a compilation way back from 2005, before it reached the PlayStation Portable. It’s counterpart on the Xbox and PS2 even missed out on a lot of games, like 1941, Captain Commando, Magic Sword and Strider, that weren’t included in their versions.
Capcom has done well to emulate the games perfectly on the PSP, down to every last detail. Credit for this translation goes to Digital Eclipse, again. Load times are also awesome… it amounts to about 12 – 15 second to load a game, and no more loads till you switch titles.
Capcom has also thrown in some bonuses, such as unlockable artwork, game history and even some gameplay tips. Multiplayer wasn’t left out of the Capcom Classics Collection Remixed edition either. On the contrary, its easy interface is one of the coolest features of the collection. It locates buddies faster than any game on the PSP, and has easy options for leaving and entering a game with the touch of a button.
As in all collections, some games don’t match up to the standards of others, but the other games in the title make up for their lack of entertainment.
The collection includes 20 games, including 1941, Forgotten Worlds, Black Tiger, Bionic Commando, Strider, Speed Rumbler, Quiz & Dragons, the original Street Fighter, Mega Twins, Last Duel and the likes.
To conclude, the Capcom Classics Collection Remixed is a great choice for Capcom fans and casual gamers alike, providing hours of entertainment, and some great multiplayer choices. It has it’s own ups and downs in terms of included titles, but the Ups overshadow the downs enough to keep you wanting more.

Impossible mission… when one thinks about those words, the first thing that comes to mind is the awesome classics back on the arcade machines. That this arcade classic has made its way to our beloved handheld doesn’t come as much of a surprise, considering all the classic ports we have seen on the PSP lately.
Impossible Mission was originally made in 1984 for the Commodore 64, and included some good gameplay for that time. You would see your character moving through rooms, avoiding multitudes of strange robots, exploring cupboards and the like. The Impossible Mission PSP version isn’t unlike the original. It even has the blocky graphics and the weirdly cool sound effects to complement the game’s classic sense, giving you the ’80s feel when you play it.
Improvements in the port include two new game modes apart from the classic mode. The ‘new’ mode has a significant uplift in Visuals and sound, while the ‘merged’ mode has a funny mixed of the two, mixing various parts of the old and new versions.
The original was most well known for its sounds, considering it was one of the first titles to implement digitized speech. The new version has improved on this a bit. The backgrounds also seem more detailed in the PSP, but since the game takes you through rooms that are randomly generated, you can’t expect the detail to be perfect.
Gameplay-wise, the old and new versions are almost the same, the only difference being that while you were given 6 hours to complete the original, you will have the pleasure of playing for an extra two to complete this version. Dying in the game however will bite a chunk out of the timer, and when time runs out, there are no other options except to start over. This could have been made optional to accommodate the more casual gamers, but I guess that wasn’t really on their minds.
A major drawback to the PSP version is that while other classics were offered as a collection, comprising of numerous titles for the price of one, impossible mission came alone, which could have been avoided by releasing a couple of others with it to reduce the overall cost, making it more affordable.
