Many people love racing games, and the PSP is no stranger to this genre. Obviously some certain games, like Need for Speed, grab most of the attention and fans, but there are actually plenty of other quality and racing oriented PSP games. Although much more than just a racing game, Miami Vice based on the hit movie and TV series, involves some great driving action and other fun sequences on the PSP.
Since we are talking about Miami Vice, we know the game obviously has plenty of boats, beaches, scenic locales, and of course beautiful women. Like most movies turned games, this title is based pretty fundamentally on its film counterpart. You go through it in the shoes of either Sonny Crockett or Ricardo Tubbs. Since it’s based on the movie, both characters bare an uncanny resemblance to Colin Farrell and Jamie Foxx. Both of them are special undercover narcotics officers employed by Miami-Dade Police department.
While playing, you automatically gain street credibility for your various acts as you climb the street chain while dealing in weed, meth, and coke, and taking down cartels. Just like the movie, the game features plenty of double-crossing as well. Some of the glamorous, and not so glamorous, locations you visit include a neon-soaked South Beach nightclub, a trailer park turned meth factory, a sun-bleached waterfront, and more. Most of the missions in Miami Vice: The Game (PSP) involve slaying foes, and then recovering the drugs with occasional variations. These missions or tasks are linear and straightforward, without giving the player much room for freedom or open ended gameplay. Your body armor assists you in taking more damage than any of your enemies. The graphics are fairly good and the soundtrack comes straight from the movie, so it’s very good. Well it doesn’t quite break the mold of mediocre games based on moves, but anyone longing to see more Miami might like it.
