Every Extend Extra: Simple yet Fun Game for the PSP

Posted on Dec 3, 2008 04:35:04 PM

For all those who had hours of fun with Meteos and Lumines, here is another game from the same developer retaining the essence of the original in a trade mark style. Every Extend Extra is simple and easy to understand gameplay concept with the help of superb visuals.

Q entertainment established its strong presence with a high quality, innovative and fresh game concept in familiar puzzle games with Meteos and Lumines. Effective sounds and stylish visuals which evolve as you continue playing the game add to the solid gameplay. Every Extend Extra is yet another similar concept from the developers. Varied sounds and sights are attractive and interest is kept alive with changing look at every level of the game. Some players feel there is a lack of depth in the gameplay while some others say it is novel and unique.

The abstract core concept of the Every Extend Extra requires you to control a cursor which is star-shaped to move around a field formed of different shapes avoiding aggressive enemies spewing projectiles at you.

You will lose your life if any physical contact with the enemy. You can only fight back by blowing yourself up in retaliation. You can destroy shapes nearby by hitting the face button and sending shock waves but in the course you must lose your life too as this will result in an explosion. To succeed in this puzzle type game, you must be skilful enough to judge the right time to detonate. As you detonate your limited number of cursors, you have an option of replenishing them by picking up colored gems left behind by your enemies.

Challenge is enhanced in the form of increased number of fast moving shapes and enemies as the game progresses. Interest is kept alive with different game play modes. These include the boss attack mode and the caravan mode.

As you play the two players versus game, you have to push an object which is giant sized and looks like a meteor from your screen to your opponent’s screen. Have fun on your PSP with Every Extend Extra which holds your attention from the beginning to the end.

Puzzle Scape: Play It if You Love Puzzles

Posted on Sep 23, 2008 03:07:50 PM

Whenever it comes to puzzle oriented titles we always think of classics like the legendary Lumines, Puzzle Guzzle and more. The magic created by these titles is surely unmatched and unbeatable, but that doesn’t mean we shouldn’t look for something new. Our search can end with the latest puzzle oriented title we have discovered: Puzzlescape.

The title is actually fairly addictive and fun, and could even compete with some of the legendary titles we mentioned earlier. Puzzle Scape employs pulsating techno. As a player you’ll locate a row of colored blocks, meant to combine into chains of the same color, and which actually drop from above onto the title grid. To accomplish this you have to select adjacent blocks and swap their places by utilising a two block wide cursor. You must focus on creating a two by two square, rather than fashion rows and columns of like colored blocks. When you achieve this it will not only destroy the blocks in the square, but also those of the same color attached to it.

There are different single player modes, including the architect and the artist mode. In the architect mode you have to accomplish a series of objectives, such as constructing a 15 block chain or clearing 20 identical colored blocks. Meeting these tasks will earn you a medal depending upon how early you accomplish the target. Your standard scrolling mode is your Artistic mode where you’ll get a chance to play continuously until and unless your column reaches the top of the screen. All the puzzle levels are separated into four different themes, two of which are flowers and machines. Each theme includes 10 levels, which are spiced up with whatever the theme is. You’ll definitely be reminded of the unforgettable Lumines Puzzle Fusion. All puzzle fans can gather around to this great title.

Enjoy Gunpey on your PSP

Posted on Sep 16, 2008 02:23:19 PM

Remember Lumines? In case you have forgotten, Lumines is one of the most appreciated puzzle games ever made. The game has received praise from gamers and critics alike. Here is another title known as Gunpey that comes with similar sensationalism, style and mind shaking puzzles.

Those who are familiar with Lumines will immediately see the similarities. In the title the player is required to connect the lines, which are pointing in various directions onto the gameplay grid, from left to right. The chain will get locked, and once you’ve linked one side to the other, you’ll have time to add more lines to it before it’s removed. There’s a D pad and a face button, with the help of which you can move a two block cursor onto the lines and move the line from one block to another. Gunpey (PSP) is over when the next row is due to appear and a line is in the top row is still incomplete. Moving the lines vertically is the first and primary challenge that needs to be accomplished.

As the player you’re not only require to connect the lines but also to move the ones which are nearer to the top towards the bottom. Making a complete connection gives you two benefits: first it’ll make the chain disappear and secondly it buys you more time. The lines become immovable for a short duration once the connection is created. If you’re used to the more visually appealing marbles and blocks then you’re at the right place. The player will have to tap the X button if he/she has already arranged the lines and is waiting for the next to appear.

In the beginning the play moves along slowly, but as the lines go to the top and it gets closer to ending, the rows start appearing quickly. While it’s not a perfect sequel to Lumines, it is an altogether quality puzzle game.

Indulge in the thrill of time attacks and flaunt your progress which is constantly displayed if you are on the muti-player mode which you can lock on wirelessly with your opponents.

According to pelaja, from Finland “If you consider Lumines to be just another puzzle game or a modern successor to “Tetris,” you miss half of the games charm. You don’t see the forest from the trees, as the saying goes. It’s more than a innovative and addictive puzzle game. It lives though it’s incredible sound scape and visuals. It challenges your senses as well as your brain. Not a step, but a leap forward for the puzzle game genre”

An epitome of addiction and a possible target of your parents or even spouse simply because it is very addictive and even your short bursts of activity on the console would lead to hours of indulge which you will make excuses to afford. You PSP might just get heated up if you don’t let it down for sometime.

A beautiful and soul-stirring game and Must must buy for the PSP gaming fans.
