Pro Cycling Manager 2008

Posted on Sep 3, 2008 01:46:10 PM

Pro Cycling Manager 2008 is all about being an official manager for one of the 65 official cycling teams and managing all the aspects of the team for that season. Being the general manager, you will have to perform various tasks or duties like contracts, hiring, transfers, managing the finances, as well as trainings for creating the most competitive professional team. Throughout the race you have to work out the best strategies possible by combining various aspects, including attacks, tactics, relays and much more.

This is different from other racing games because here the management aspect of the game is in the limelight, rather than just the race. A lot of new elements have been added to Cycling Manager Pro to achieve this. There is a more consistent, and at the same time realistic, growth plan for each rider, a new system for the recruitment of talent, and a different stamina system. The rider models and the animations are detailed by the advanced AI techniques which give the game a very realistic touch. New lighting systems are there and the environments give a very rich and detailed look because a lot of landscapes and buildings have been added.

A lot in the game is dependent on you, because you as a manager will decide the strategy, when to attack and when to conserve. There are race track events available, like those in the Olympics, which results in some exciting close racing. It is quite fun to plan your race and react to other riders as well.

Finally, Pro Cycling Manager 2008 is a game which you can enjoy to the fullest if you are a cycling fan. It is a very fine strategy game where you, as the decision maker, have to decide the time of attack. Your options get limited because you do not have the direct control to the riders, although the AI follows the orders very well. This game has a huge content, around 400 games to choose from. It’s an excellent game for strategy lovers, and cycling fans, while people who want direct control of their racers would probably due well to look elsewhere.
