Mega Man Maverick Hunter X from Capcom on the PSP

Posted on Jan 26, 2009 02:37:54 PM

Mega Man Maverick Hunter X was created and developed by Capcom. This series of Mega Man has once again become a success story besides retaining the impressive performance. Everything from the presentation, story, characterization and control is perfect. It is a remake of the Mega Man ‘X’ adventure and thus gives a nostalgic feeling. Even though it is a remake, the creators have succeeded in maintaining the spirit of the game. Every gamer would enjoy this game for the thrill and adventure it sustains throughout. All those who have played the original version will experience a wide range of changes in the graphics and level designs. These are quite catchy than the original version and makes the game look like a new one.

The developers have given very good attention on the presentation of the game. They emerged successful as it is looking ravishing than the original version. Polygonal models in MegaMan Maverick Hunter X have replaced the usually flat backgrounds typical of the series. The graphics which follow the explosions are mind blowing and deserves special mention. The animated cut scenes add energy to the overall format of the game and make it refreshing. Actions like wall jump, charge shoot are the same as the original. The locations of the hidden armor, weapons have been changed and thus succeed in giving you some serious work. The menu enables you to view the weapons of the bosses and also gives you the opportunity to swap them. You can also view the number of sub-tanks collected and their properties.

The most amazing feature of this game is the vile mode. In the vile mode, the players can play as the Maverick vile. Maverick vile is more like a superman with some extraordinary features. He possesses shoulder and leg cannons, mech vehicle and super weapons which Mega Man doesn’t possess. Even the normal mode in this game would appear hard. You can make use of the facility available in your PSP and play with your friends. Thus the Mega Man Maverick Hunter X comes as an interesting and challenging game. Even though remake version of the games fails to click in market, this game was successful in drawing gamers and also received good reviews from critics.

Mega Man all powered up on the PSP

Posted on Oct 1, 2008 11:48:41 AM

As you are no doubt already well aware, Mega Man Powered Up is a remake and amended version of the legendary and classic Mega Man game. The earlier Mega Man was originally released on the NES, over 20 years ago. The popular Mega Man Maverick Hunter X was actually a redo of the original title with additional playable characters and some shuffled power up locations. Going extra mile is Mega Man: Powered Up, where all the bosses are Unlockable, and most of the core level designs have been revamped with a whole bunch of minigames.

If you have experienced Mega Man already, then you’ll notice that powered up is very similar for all intents and purposes. You’ll notice the same bosses on hand and identical level designs. MegaMan Powered Up (PSP) begins with Dr. Belly’s cutscene where he and his vile robot make an attempt to conquer the world by through a kidnapping rampage. All this is adorably voice acted and in an all new opening level that actually trains you on the gameplay basics. Clearing this level will let you jump directly into the main gameplay.

You’ll immediately feel familiar with level designs, if you have played Mega Man before. While the designs are essentially identical, they include certain new and hidden locations for the Blue Bomber to discover. You are also free to unlock all eight bosses as playable characters. This occurs if you manage to slay the boss without using any of the boss weapons. It is admittedly very cool to play as a boss, even if the jumps and movement are pretty much the same as with Mega Man. As we all know, different characters have different abilities. Guts Man, for example, can gain access to hidden areas by busting through certain ceilings and floor, while Cuts Man can bounce while jumping. These special capabilities can assist you in overcoming certain situations. So overall this is a dazzling successor of the classic franchise.
