Jet Moto: The Future of Racing on your PSP

Posted on Sep 3, 2008 12:56:19 PM

JET MOTO is the future of racing where you control a vehicle that is a cross between a hovercraft and motorcycle. The game is different from other racing games, because, using the hovercraft capabilities, you can drive over both water and land. Most of the courses or tracks are designed in the game in order to take advantage of this special ability. Product logos are adorned on the bikes, which makes it quite similar to the authentic sponsored racing. Most of the racing here takes place in water.

Jet Moto is totally based upon a system termed Magnetic Grapple. Some kind of magnetic attraction is created between the red energy poles, which are placed intentionally throughout the game, and the racer’s bike, by pressing an assigned button. This magnetic attraction helps the bike to swing (move to and fro) around narrow turns and over large gaps, instead of slowing down or coming to a complete halt in these difficult situations. Turns keep coming quite quick and fast in the game. Water filled woods are also a very frequent occurrence in the game.

This game has 20 characters and initially three tracks are provided. After winning the all the tournaments, 17 more tracks are provided. The race tracks are also far different from the traditional circuits found in racing games like Toca Race Driver 2. Instead the track is not in a continuous loop; it has two points, point A and point B. Racers start from point A and move on to point B; turn around and then go back to point A, facing the oncoming racers. Besides this format, conventional tracks are also provided in the game.

To conclude, Jet Moto is a decade old game which is fast, tough and most importantly fun. The presentation is perfect with ultimate character designs and very original and creative race tracks. The sound effects and sound engine are decent, and also come with some great music. In short, Jet Moto is unconventional, original, and exciting game for any racing fan.

Ghost Rider for the PSP

Posted on Aug 1, 2008 01:37:09 PM

Have you watched Nicolas Cage’s excellent flick “Ghost Rider”? If your answer is an affirmative YES then prepare yourself for the same experience on your PSP. The flick ghost rider has taken on an animated form, which is a joy to play.

The game will surely recall your memories of watching the movie. Its story is almost identical to the movie’s storyline. The gameplay is truly inspired by the legendary franchises like God of War and Devil May Cry. A gamer will come across the same ranking system as he/she had experienced in God of War and Devil May Cry. The concept of Ghost Rider (PSP) is straightforward, as the player is required to destroy Blackheart’s demonic forces with the help of distinct combo styles. Throughout the game you will collect souls to buy combos that enhance your power. Some combos are worthless and ineffective, while others have the ability to kill enemies in just three consecutive hits. The troublesome part is the resetting of the meter whenever you get hit by the enemy. Gamers don’t have to struggle a lot as you come across the same generic demons again and again. And their attacking patterns are very much predictable as the AI is pretty uncreative.

Just like the movie, the most exciting part in the game comes with the bike riding sequence. In this you have to stick to your bike and need it to get from point A to point B. The PSP version delivers a challenger and a multiplayer mode which you can consider as bonus content. The challenger mode involves distinct race modes with variations like elimination races and survival mode. This PSP version is much, much better looking when compared to the PS2 one. The graphics are spectacular as they look real and natural as if one is watching the movie again. These pulsating graphics are perfectly accompanied by the great sound effects and background music. So you liked the movie and you like motorcycles, then this is a game for you.
