Online Chess Kingdom is an interesting game on PlayStation Portable which provides a lot of entertaining moments for chess lovers. Portable online chess offers an excellent option to play with multi players adding to conventional rules an interesting twist.
The story is about forces such as law, order, spirit, magic and chaos created by an omnipotent deity. These forces are sent packing by the deity after they start squabbling with each other. Each of them develops and gains enough strength to reach the borders of their neighbours where they decide to battle. A lot of interesting chess games start from here.
The game features Sci-Fi and alien characters as chess pieces. As a player, you can choose to play with the traditional looking chess pieces in the quick games. Apart from the online mode, players can choose to play the campaign mode where you have the option of moving your armies around by taking turns with your opponents in a strategic layer. You have to navigate your armies through a chessboard-like grid map.
As two armies meet, it ends up in a chess game. The losing army is eliminated from the game and the winning army continues. In the battle mode of the Online Chess Kingdoms PSP game you are required to make quick and swift moves around the field and defeat your opponent as fast as possible. You win if you are the first player to reach the point limit as each piece carries a point value. This mode is in fact one of the most exciting modes in this game.
Online mode comes with a pretty interesting structure. As a player, you join hands with one of the factions you choose and try to wipe out the other factions. You can choose a territory and attack a particular faction. You can also choose to just stay around and defend your territory from attackers.
If you find an opponent in the online mode, it is fine. If you do not, then you have the option of playing with the computer. Offline mode offers players difficulty levels numbering four which ranges from the novice to the master level. Online Chess Kingdoms is an interesting enough game for chess fans which allow you to play competent chess online on your favourite PSP.

The game of cricket has always been a favourite sport for many. Brian Lara 2007 is an interesting game of cricket on the handheld. This game has been effectively shortened by the developers with the Pressure Play mode. This resembles a Scenario ode where players are provided with challenges such as “bowl over a maiden” or “win the match in the last over”, etc. These modes eliminate the need for playing hours of dragging cricket. Instead, they offer short and exciting action. Those who want to still play a long and proper cricket can play the ICC Cricket World Cup. This is an exciting event where a total of 16 licensed teams participate.
This game is packed with all the excitement a cricket lover is looking for. Graphics are pretty mediocre and textures are not very impressive However, animations compensate adequately for these drawbacks and provide a good feel to the game. Gameplay is solid and provides players and cricket lovers with exciting hours of fun and entertainment.
One aspect that could have been improved upon considerably is the level of challenge. As you play the PlayStation Portable game, you find that once you get the hang of bowling and batting timings, it is possible to play the game for hours together without any problem or challenges. It is possible to just go on and on.
With the multiplayer mode, it is possible to play with friends online. It is possible to extend the lifespan as you play online. In fact, this is much more exciting than playing against a non human opponent. For those who are looking to enjoy a decent game of cricket, Brian Lara 2007 Pressure Play is an ideal game they can play on their PSP. This game is ideal for those who just want to enjoy the game with a tranquil frame of mind. However, those who are used to nail biting and thrilling games may find this game a bit dull and lifeless. If you are an ardent cricket fan, pick up this game and enjoy hours of bowling and batting action with the Pressure Play.

Side scrollers had their moments of triumph in the gaming industry, and they had their share of great games, but people thought it was time to move on, with all the 2.5D and 3D games available for handheld consoles. Well, the Japanese game publisher Altus proved everyone wrong by bringing back side- scrolling to the PSP with Hammerin’ Hero. This game is super addictive and will keep you hooked to the console for quite some time.
You play as Genzo Tamura, a young carpenter, who sets out to stop the evil carpenter practices of the Kuromoku-gumi. You have various levels to complete, each complete with its own boss. Stages don’t go on for very long, but they sure are fun, and are filled with fun collectibles. It also contains that same wacky Japanese animation found in other Atlus games like Bomberman Land PSP. The Gameplay is Hammerin Hero is extremely easy to grasp and get used to. There are five basic moves, Jump, crouch, light attack, special attack and heavy attack.
Your job is to kill every enemy in the path till you reach the boss of the level. You’ll start off with a giant hammer to knock down enemies, but as the game progresses, you’ll get new jobs, and with new jobs come new weapons and new special attacks. For instance, if you take up a DJ job, you can bonk enemies with a boombox.
You visit Kanna, a childhood friend, before each level, to get a bento lunch. Each bento lunch gives you the ability to change to a different job within a single stage. You can ask for random bentos to get multipliers, power-ups and boosters among other things.
Stages are also filled with civilians who have their own share of worries. You can choose an appropriate job to do away with civilian worries to make them happy and they will send thank-you notes in return.
The game also features multiplayer, where players play side by side over a wireless network to finish stages.
There are many ways to get extra points, but that’s left for you to discover. The April 7th North America release date will be much awaited for, as this promising title should bring back memories of old, but great side scrollers such as double dragon.

Developed by Sidhe Entertainment, the game of Gripshift combines both a driving and a puzzle game. Cars, which are the centre point of the game can be driven around tracks either racing or solving puzzles.
Users can pick a car from one of the designer racers. While the cars come with statistics, racers do not. The trick is in locating the car that can be handled well to give you a head start.
Beginner courses assist you in providing you with a general idea on the concept. From here you can move on to the challenge mode. As you race around on the tracks, you are required to clear the track in a given amount of time collecting stars that are scattered about. Unlocking course series and difficulty levels in Gripshift is only possible by collecting credits. As a player, you are required to fulfill objectives stipulated that are quite difficult and challenging before you are awarded credits.
Puzzles are cleverly designed and you have to be smart enough to achieve in the given time. However, car mechanics could have been better. Users feel there is not enough time to spend on solving the interesting puzzles as you spend all your energy trying to handle the car and keeping it racing on the track.
Turns have to be maneuvered with care and caution. Acceleration and braking is possible mid air and no amount of practice exactly perfects your technique of handling the car. As you race with other cars either in the challenge mode or the standard mode, there is a lot of excitement picking up weapons like TNT bombs, shields, missiles, etc. Here again, a lot of excitement is washed away trying to control the veering cars.
There are interesting mini games which are very enjoyable as they do not rely too much on controls. Fascinating games include the penguin bowling, playground, etc. With the help of the ad hoc multiplayer mode, you can race with at least four players. Another option is to indulge in a death match which is in fact more like a combat.
If you love racing and puzzles and do not mind a bit of haggling with the controls, then you can enjoy this game of GripShift on your favourite PSP.

Yet another compilation title, this time from the world of Sega, is the Sega Genesis Collection. At the time when Genesis was released, it had the best graphics, and some really awesome innovative games. There were addictive puzzles, awesome RPGs and some fast action titles as well. With this collection of games, the Genesis was an awesome console.
Now reliving that moment on the small screen, The Sega Genesis Collection features some of the best games which were available for the Genesis, down on the PSP. Nostalgic gamers will find this title to be just what they want from the Sega Universe.
This compilation features 28 games from the Genesis, in addition to five other Sega Arcade games that are unlockable. It has some of the best games ever on the genesis, such as Phantasy Star II, III and IV, Sonic 1 and 2, Ecco the dolphin 1, 2 and Jr., Comix Zone, Alex Kidd and the likes. The Bonus Arcade Games are Space Fury, Congo Bongo, Astro Blaster, Eliminator and Super Zaxxon.
Some games like Ecco Jr. and Decap Attack don’t quite cut it to the best games list, but most of the others do, making the collection truly worth the buy. The Phantasy Star IV RPG game is probably one of the best ever of its kind. Sega didn’t add in Widescreen support for all the games, but the games still fit well in to the PSP screen, and give you an awesome experience.
All games can be saved at any time now, and gamers can visit the “museum” in most games, which contains a history of the game, and maybe even some tips and tricks. The menus could have been worked on a little more, but that’s not what we’re here for is it?
Another major plus to the title is the integration of multiplayer. Now other PSPs can even join you midgame. That’s an awesome feature, and there’s no lag or slowing down when implementing it… Kudos to Sega.
Sega Genesis Collection is on of the best compilations available for the PSP, and every old school Sega fan should go out and get one.
