Time to hit the Road on your PSP

Posted on Jul 15, 2008 07:18:51 AM

One might think of it as another one of those boring car racing games with the only saving grace being the spectacular special effects. But before you start yawning, think again. Cars, based on the Pixar film with the same name, is about a group of car racers who make their way to the town of Radiator Springs to make the place chaotic. The hometown hero McQueen (also the hero in the movie) makes his way into the picture along with fellow residents to protect the town’s honor and to drive away the racers by challenging them to a slew of competitions.

You can choose from a total of 15 racers in the game. All the cars have been designed differently and vary in performance in terms of speed, handling and acceleration. The car can be drifted, as well as made to jump, which results in some extreme action oriented sequences. The only thing missing in the whole package is that there are no weapons or any other combat methods that would allow you to destroy the other cars. Perhaps it is because of this very reason that the racing sequences have been developed in a very unconventional manner making the gamer feel as if he is contesting a grand-prix. The animation and graphics in Cars (PSP) are very high quality and will help the player feel completely immersed in the gaming world. All the actors from the motion picture have been roped in to provide voiceovers for the game, and their respective one liners are often highlights. The original soundtrack composed for the film has been used in the game as well, in an effort to give it a cinematic touch. All these features increase the appeal of the game and the young gamers craving for some adrenaline rush are assured of getting full value for their money.
