Tekken 2 is now available on the PSN for the PSP

Posted on Mar 1, 2009 06:02:51 PM

Nostalgia is in the air, with Tekken 2 available on the Playstation Network for the Playstation portable. On the PSOne, this was one of the best fighting games ever made, and the one that made the Tekken Series what it is today. Available for download on the PSN, this game is not quite what was expected on the handheld.

The big question here is, how can a game like Tekken 2 be so disappointing on the handheld line? I mean, it was after all one of the greatest games available in its time. Well the answer is simple. In the PSP port of the game, you will get a chance to play out the game fully, but will not get a chance to test your skills against your friends. That is right. No multiplayer functionalities. Playing Arcade and survival against the PC can only be so entertaining. After a while it gets boring and repetitive, and there is no option to get rid of that flaw. Considering there is already a sequel available for the PSP, with multiplayer, this game might not click. Most gamers are aware of the response issues with Tekken: Dark Resurrection’s D-Pad, and the problem is only worse in Tekken 2. Options are customizable, but a little sluggish and quite annoying at times.

There are additions to the game however. Some new characters have been added since eleven years ago, and sound tracks are more organized. Character balancing is also much better in the new version. Emulating the game on the Playstation Portable is almost flawless, and the graphics are still good standard for the PSP.

Tekken 2 is and always will be the most entertaining 3d fighter on the PSOne, or anywhere for that matter. There are many problems with the PSP port, and they are not small enough to be ignored. These could have been worked on to make an amazing port, but that just did not happen. But whatever anyone says, it is Tekken 2 we are taking about, and all those nostalgic tekken fans are going to want this one. If you are not that into the old Tekken and just want a good multiplayer fighter, Dark Resurrection is probably a better choice.

Get into the Rhythm with Gitaroo Man Lives for the PSP!

Posted on Oct 23, 2008 03:43:29 PM

This is a rocking rhythm game for the PSP. Similar to the Koei PS2 game, which was released about five years ago, Gitaroo Man Lives packs a few exciting additional features, including a few interesting songs.

The storyline involves space guitars and the destiny of a young boy who is quite timid. Lovers of rhythm games are in for a treat with Gitaroo Man Lives. With striking and catchy tunes and excellent art, this rhythm game is one of the few PSP games to have excellent sound and animation back up its solid gameplay.

It is all about U-1, a young local lad who is so timid that he does not have friends, is scared to talk to girls he likes and is forever being bullied by the local bully. Help comes in the form of his dog Puma who talks. U-1 is offered a strange looking instrument resembling a guitar called the Gitaroo. Puma asks him to make use of this instrument and become a legendary Gitaroo, but U-1 is reluctant. With a lot of prodding from Puma and Kirah, a pretty young girl, U-1 agrees and is all set to confront the Gravillians.

Gravillians are an alien race who are trying to take over the universe with the help of the Gitaroo technology, which they have stolen. As U-1, you are pitted against a different Gravillian fighter at each stage of Gitaroo Man Lives! (PSP). To add spice to your efforts, you are periodically required to face a musical showdown by trumpet players who are inspired by Louis Armstrong and are dressed in bee suits. These competitors include a Goth rocker who plays an organ, a mechanical space shark. giant looking thing playing on the drums, three skeletons who love the calypso, etc. All this makes your journey absolutely thrilling and exciting, providing you with endless hours of fun.

The range of music in this game is absolutely awesome. Produced by COIL, a group from Japan, the range incorporated in the game is simply superb. Striking visuals, stylish presentation and simple technology offer you an experience par excellence. Gameplay has been kept simple and easy to let user to concentrate on enjoying the aspects of the game.

Experience Gradius to the fullest with the Gradius Collection

Posted on Oct 20, 2008 12:59:26 PM

An awesome gaming package, in the form of the Gradius Collection, was created with an amalgamation of Gradius II (1988), Gradius III (1989), Gradius IV (1998), and Gradius Gaiden (1997). As a gamer you have most likely played the renowned Gradius titles, which are known as a popular series in the space shoot ‘em up genre. Unfortunately, the Gradius Collection is not quite whole or complete, as it is noticeably missing both Life Force (the Gradius spin off sequel that brought two player gameplay and vertical scrolling stage) and 2004’s Gradius V.

Despite the fact that two alluring titles from the series are missing, the collection still offers plenty of entertaining Gradius gameplay. Although to really appreciate the Gradius titles, it is important to not judge them based on today’s standards, and understand how old most of the games are. Predictably, the weakest member of the Gradius family is surely original the Gradius as the Gradius II is far-far better. At 20 years of age it still looks as fresh as ever, and the game’s challenges and modes are just as great as they were 20 years ago. The toughest one of the batch is Gradius III. You will have to prepare yourself to crank up on extra lives if you want to get through this edition.

The best thing about the Gradius collection is that you can switch to another title easily. In most of the titles long loading times lead to frustration, but fortunately the loading time in this game is incredibly fast. If you have a desire to play the old Gradius games, then this collection might be for you, but beware of how technologically outdated the games are.

Online Servers for old PSP games will soon go offline

Posted on May 27, 2008 10:19:16 AM

For many years now PSP has made people addicted to their popular games, attractive consoles, and with their mind blowing features and accessories. After getting several new consoles and games based on new themes with unbelievable graphics and realistic players, it’s still hard to forget the charm of the old PSP games. Many players remember these old PSP games very fondly.

According to the latest news from the Sony Entertainment (America), they are about to shut down the various online servers for old PSP games. From June 30, 2008 these servers of old PSP games will go offline. Its not that only old PSP games will suffer but some old PS2 (play station 2) games such as Amplitude, Destruction Derby Arenas, Everybody’s Golf, Eye Toy Chat, F1 (2004), Jak X, Lemmings PS2, My Street, Symphon Filter Omega Strain, This is football 2004 and 2005 will also go offline along together with the two PSP games Lemmings and World Tour Soccer 2 from the mentioned date. These games, which are about to go online, are very popular among crazy PSP and PS2 lovers. The main reason behind this could be the new versions of games which Sony Entertainment has already launched, so that people can easily switch over to the latest games instead of playing the same old games with the same boring two dimensional graphics, unrealistic players and background etc. For instance, World Tour Soccer 2 is the old version of the soccer game for the PSP, but now the PSP has launched Pro Evolution Soccer 5 in which people will get improved graphics, new football clubs and more intelligent opponents to compete with. The same goes for other games as well. People now should move towards more advanced and intelligent versions of games leaving the older games behind for more thrill, excitement, fun and adventure.

Brett Favre can be played with on PSP – Madden NFL 09

Posted on May 5, 2008 10:42:17 AM

Madden NFL 09Brett Favre was a well-known quarter-back having done his team Greenbay packers pretty proud having won countless accolades and honors, including the super wins at the Super Bowl Championship, nine pro-bowls and a few Super Bowl stints. The Associated press also christened him as an MVP for a whopping three years and was even featured in the Sports Illustrated as the ‘Sportsman of the Year”

According to Gamespot.com “ Favre also holds a series of NFL records: most consecutive starts by an NFL quarterback (253), most career passing touchdowns (442), most career passing yards (61,655), most career pass attempts (8,758), and most career games with at least three touchdowns (63). As many citizens of his adopted home state of Wisconsin painfully know, he also has the dubious distinction of having thrown the most interceptions in NFL history–a whopping 288”

He retired last month but the string of honors he is bound to get won’t stop, we think. Recently, Electronic Arts confirmed rumors that Favre will be featured as the cover athlete on Madden NFL 09 for about the 20th time on this hugely popular franchise. He is bound to appear on the DS, Wii, Xbox 360, all versions of the Sony Playstations, including the Portable versions (PSP) of the game. The game won’t be made available to the PC gamers as was announced recently.

It is quite an honor for an athlete, to have an entire series of installments on a single game franchise and Madden is bound to see some good results following the release.
