New Homebrew Games for the PSP: Beavers, Tanks and Parachutes
The great thing about homebrew is it gives everyone the freedom to develop their own software, and one excellent consequence of this is the huge array of different and interesting games being produced. People seem particularly fond of porting classics, like the Game&Watch Parachute title. It is based on a Nintendo game from 1984, named parachute, and now a clever developer has brought it back to life for the PSP. The gaming concept is very simple: save the paratroopers from drowning. Game and Watch might say nothing to you, but it is in fact the predecessor to Nintendo’s Game Boy and, dare we say, one of the founders in handheld gaming. Now of course games from this mythical console can be enjoyed on the PSP, thanks to homebrew. Read the rest of this entry »

Puzzle Guzzle – the game your wasted time will hate
Even before you wipe the name off thinking it is one of those “already-tried-this-show-me-something else”, you will have to stop and take note of what this game has to offer. Instead of keeping it simple blocks of square or rectangular in shape falling down onto the base and then you frantically try to arrange them into a neat order to make them go away, it isn’t going to be that simple with Puzzle Guzzle. The blocks are there to fall, but only that the shapes are actually going to be like a parallelogram or a triangle or all sorts of other shapes that you would least expect in a game like this one. More Magic with Harry Potter
“Harry Potter and the half-blood Prince” will be released for the PS3, PSP, Xbox 360, Nintendo DS, Wii, PC and even the GBA, at the same time as the upcoming film. The ports under an apparent time constraint will probably not be any real top hits, but fans of the series, myself included, can get excited over a nice game. The predecessor “Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix” even managed to win over many critics, and the PSP version was actually quite playable. So maybe we should wait and see before dismissing the game as a pure marketing tool for the book and movie. EA could enchant the game with some of their own magic.
