Capcom Classic Collection is now Reloaded on the PSP

Posted on Nov 24, 2008 11:12:41 AM

Another great title for you to revisit the 80’s is the Capcom Classic Collection Reloaded. The Capcom Classics Collection Reloaded is a 19 game port, with some of the old Capcom classics. One could call this an upgraded version of the Capcom Classics Collection Remixed.

The PS2 version of this omnibus got a well-appreciated nod from Yoshiki Okamoto, the creator of most of these titles, and Okamoto’s titles contribute greatly to the success of the series. Some of his games are considered true legends, like the 1942, 1943 and 1943 Kai are some of the best shooters of their time.

Let’s not forget Pirate Ship Higemaru, which is basically a renewed, addictive version of the SEGA Pengo. I don’t even have to tell you about Street Fighter II included in the Capcom Classics Collection Reloaded edition, as it is probably one of the best game series of all time. For those true fans out there, you’ll be happy to know that Street Fighter II isn’t alone, but is accompanied by two other versions, namely the Champion Edition and the Hyper Fighting version.

The rest of the collection also has some great titles, such as Ghouls ‘n Goblins and Gun Smoke. Games like Mercs and Commando add to the fun. Games like Volgus and Son Son don’t quite match up to the others but are still fun to play from time to time.

There were some drops made to the game list too… four to be precise. The collection doesn’t have Trojan, Section Z, Final Fight and Forgotten Worlds, which are instead replaced by some PSP exclusive additions, King of Dragons, Eco Fighters, and Knights of the Round.

Knights of the round can be called one of the coolest games in the collection. It is a side scrolling hack n’ slash, and one of the first games that upgrades characters based on experience points.

Capcom Classics Collection Reloaded is great because it offers so many features that others don’t and it has some great hardcore settings for the hardcore gamers to experience the best of each game. Old school gamers will find this game to be way better than it’s predecessor in terms of list of games, and in general, with menus and the works.

Activision Hits - Remixed

Posted on Aug 26, 2008 04:08:32 PM

Activision Hits - Remixed is a set of entertaining games which provide hours of fun - especially if you are into game sharing. With Sony PSP’s game sharing options, you can have unlimited fun with Activision Hits - Remixed. Two people can share across an Ad Hoc network with just one game file. The resolution is perfect and the game is flawlessly recreated to provide the player with genuine enjoyment.

Challenges are taken care of by a variety of difficulty levels in every game. Games can be customized to your specifications and can be effectively mapped to the buttons called R and L. If you want to return to the main menu all you have to do is to press the circle button. Controls are thus very user friendly. If you want to take a break, you can pause the game after saving it. This enables you to restart and resume from where you left off. All the games are stored in the game memory, making it the only PSP game without any loading time.

Even as you play, ten songs from the 80’s stream along melodiously to keep you relaxed. Songs include classics like Take on Me, Mexican Radio, Tainted Love and The Tide is High. Upon reaching certain levels in the game, you have access to Activision gamer patches and vintage TV commercials. This game also automatically records and saves high scores.

Compared with the original 2003 Activision Anthology for Gameboy Advance, Remixed has a whole lot of enhancements. This has been possible due to this UMD’s storage capacity, which is comparatively higher. Another enhancement is that the box art and cartridges here are 3D models as compared to the earlier version. There is double the soundtrack in the remixed version, and additional features include Moonsweeper, Atlantis and Demon Attack.

If you have been playing the earlier GBA version switch over to the remixed and enjoy the difference.
