Be a DJ with your PSP

Posted on Sep 12, 2008 06:52:00 AM

The PSP, one of the leading handheld gaming consoles today, can do far more than just play games. It has been optimized to deliver complete and total 360 degree entertainment. Besides gaming, it can be used to watch UMD movies, to make VoIP calls via Skype, view photos, listen to music and more. But have you ever wanted to create your own music with all your favorite beats and melodies. If yes, then now would be a good time to unveil your PSP’s true power. All you have to do is simply get Traxxpad installed in your handheld gaming device and then put your hands on the PSP buttons to generate impressive sounds.

Traxxpad is basically a music application for the Sony PSP which is developed by Definitive Studios. Unlike other PC based music creation software, the Traxxpad is very user friendly and displays a large number of music creation devices, in addition to the mixer. Of course, it will never compete with a real mixer, like the Behringer PMP3000, but the software still holds a lot of promise. The four PSP buttons can be used to play different sounds. Traxxpad is powered by sequencers, drum machines and keyboards. It is equipped with over 1000 stock sounds, including voices of drums and other exotic instruments. It also features a large sound library to manage the sounds and fetch them whenever needed. Traxxpad uses Real Time Interactive Sequencing Technology (RTIST) to create music patterns from samples. You can do it either in real time or as a step by step procedure. The MELOD mode offers a keyboard type interface which can be used to modify the pitch of the samples easily. Whether you like techno, rap, hip hop, or a combination of these, Traxxpad has your style covered. With the help of STAC (Studio Through A Console), you can combine the created beats with any type of music in order to remix it and record. Traxxpad allows its users to export their creations as .wav and .mp3 files so that they can be ripped on to digital discs and used with a variety of music players like mp3 players.
