Everyone who’s knows anything about the gaming world, knows how much influence Star Wars and its successors have had. Trying to count the number of Star Wars titles or offshoots on two hands would be impossible. Now the latest Star Wars title called Star Wars Battlefront: Renegade Squadron has made its way to the PSP and brings that same thrill, excitement, and action, Star Wars titles are known for.

This action and shooting oriented title will bring out the shooter in everyone. The game is actually a third person multiplayer shooter with an ad-hoc multiplayer mode that can include up to eight players at once; whereas, the multiplayer in the game’s predecessor was restricted to four players. Furthermore, the online mode actually allows for up to 16 players at once. Of course, the multiplayer mode also includes several different game types, including the popular “Conquest Mode”. For those who are new to the Star Wars: Battlefront Renegade, in this mode there are numerous capture points that are scattered across the map and two teams will go head to head to gain control of them. Each team begins with a certain number of tickets, and these tickets are removed from the team’s total as they die and respawn. There are two strategies for victory, either you bleed your enemy’s ticket down to zero, or capture all the control points.

There are other multiplayer modes as well, including classics like capture the flag, or assault mode, which sends you in the galaxy to destroy your enemy’s capital ship. On the standard difficulty level you can appoint or activate an auto pilot which undertakes the responsibility of targeting foe and sending the ship in the required direction; although, this is of course only for the single player part of the game.

The title’s sound and graphics are also of high quality. The game does an excellent job in combing shooter and Star Wars elements together, with a very engaging multiplayer mode, and is a veritable must for any fans of Star Wars or shooting games.
