Ghost Recon - Advanced Warfighter 2 PSP: Stealth Based Action Fun is mostly like the PS3 Version

Posted on Jun 1, 2009 12:49:43 AM

Individuals who love gaming on their portable system are particularly going to love this one. The Ghost Recon - Advanced Warfighter 2 (PSP) is more or less like the PS3 version, though with some minor changes here and there in order to make it compatible to the portable system. Thinking about the original PS3 game version, the makers of Ghost Recon - Advanced Warfighter 2 (PSP) have done a pretty decent job while trying to include all the action and drama of this series into a portable player, ideal for handheld gaming.

Ghost Recon - Advanced Warfighter 2 (PSP) promises a smoother game play and improved controls which help to make the gaming experience a real delight. However there is one major flipside to the Ghost Recon - Advanced Warfighter 2 PSP version. It is natural for the fans to expect that this portable game version would be just as fantastic as the original PS3 version.

However there is not even a trace of GRAW in this portable version. In fact, GRAW cannot be called as an ideal condensed version of the original PS3 series. The plot of this game is on a Tom Clancy level and includes various twists and turns. The graphics are quite nice and the time taken in loading is surprisingly short as well. The flip part, however, is that the Playstation Portable game does not offer any options for individuals who are looking forward to play a multiplayer game with their friends. The glitch is that it only allows for a single player and that too, ad-hoc. Thus all your past records and achievements in the game will return to reset/default mode once you turn off the game.

Tenchu - Time of the Assassins puts together the Finest Elements of the Classic Series

Posted on May 17, 2009 09:22:47 PM

The latest addition to the well-known Tenchu series the ‘Time of Assassins’ puts together the finest elements of this classic game in a re-mastered version. In this version published by Sega the graphics and detailing have been enhanced and new features have been incorporated to engage you in long hours of stealthily ending your enemies.

This version has a more in-depth story and brings back the characters Rikimaru, Ayame, Rin, and Tessyu. As usual the game involves spying on enemies and killing them while they are unaware. Stealth maneuvers form the primary element of the Tenchu - Time of the Assassins PSP game. Icons on the screen light up to show you when an enemy is aware of your presence. The combat requires a high level of skill and responsiveness. Each of these characters has a unique storyline and each story has brand new levels and missions. The fifth new character needs to be unlocked through completion of certain levels. The most significant development is the option of playing for the rival side as Onkiage, the evil servant of Lord Mei-oh. It also features 50 independent campaigns that can be played after successfully completing the single player mode. It has the famous scene editor that allows you to create your own levels with a variety of enemies to combat. The co-operative and multiplayer modes allow you to play with other players through a wireless LAN or a USB cable.

The game developers should have focused on the camera work that seems shoddy at times. Apart from the area where the actual mission takes place most of the environment is completely lackluster and could have definitely used more detailing. Nonetheless the stealth combat that propelled the game to success is definitely engrossing while the game editor that enables you to create your own scenes is an exciting feature. Move through the murky shadows in the dead of the night and silently lay your enemies to rest in this PlayStation Portable game.

Shinobido tales of the Ninja: Entertaining Ninja Game for the PSP

Posted on May 10, 2009 04:23:18 PM

Many ardent fans of the Ninjas have been deeply disappointed that they could not play any of the Ninja games on their PSP. Cheer up Ninja fans! You can play the Shinobido tales of the Ninja on your Playstation Portable. Shinobido paves the way for all future adventure ninja games that promote the hack and slash style.

The storyline of the Shinobido Ninja game is simple and has been set in thirteenth century Japan where Goh who is one of the last Ninjas to survive sets off on various missions so he can bring prosperity and peace to Utakata the imaginary kingdom. Shinobido: Tales of the Ninja involves testing your skills in different ways such as protecting those who are in your charge, stealing certain objects, making your way to different destinations or even transporting boxes. The game tests your skills at various levels. Though most of the levels are nearly the same and can be boring and monotonous at times, there is a refreshing change at certain levels that can keep you at tenterhooks.

Annihilation is one of the best levels in the game play. It has been aptly named as it requires players to get rid of many evil characters who can sneak into the game scene without your knowledge and a sword fight ensues till they are killed. It is suicidal to fight with more than one enemy as the enemies have mastered the art of blocking and can have you killed instead.

If you feel very angry or like to be sneaky then you are provided with the option of numerous items you can place stealthily to create deadly traps for your enemies. Your character can be aptly controlled and making stealthy kills and sneaking up on your enemies will become fairly easy as you move on to various levels. More characters emerge at different levels as you move on in the game play and it is advisable to stick to a minimum of two characters so it does not get overly complicated. The animation in Shinobido is good and the music is great sounding resembling a movie track.

Tenchu Shadow Assassins: Execute Gruesome Stealth Kills on your PSP

Posted on Mar 27, 2009 05:07:43 PM

Tenchu: Shadow Assassins is an interesting game from the Tenchu series played from a third person perspective. Here, players play in the quiet shoes of two ninjas Ayame and Rikimaru. They serve their lord Gohda and carry out his not-so-straightforward orders. Going through dark environments and systematically eliminating guards, you carry out your Lord’s orders.

On the PSP, Tenchu is a straight forward reproduction of the Wii version. Here the only difference from the original Tenchu: Shadow Assassins Wii version is that the motion controls have been eliminated. As a player you either control Ayame or Rikimaru going through various missions allotted to you by your Lord Gohda. Apart from these story missions, you can also play the numerous short assignment missions. With these you have a chance to practice techniques and also learn how to break pace in the more complicated levels.

Controls are user friendly and standard with simple button presses. There is no need for any motion control here as the game is set on the roads. Left and right on the analog nub rotates the character and front and back moves them accordingly in that direction. For quick movement from one place to another, all you need to do is to press the L trigger and spring forward. Evasion is possible with the help of R trigger.

Tenchu: Shadow assassins come with a lot of bloodshed. Killings add a sense of excitement and thrill for the gamers. Story missions take you through feudal environments in Japan where you assassinate leaders. You navigate by rolling through bushes, sliding along walls and creeping under houses.

There is an element of frustration in the gameplay as you struggle through the first stages trying to get a grip on rolling techniques.

If you get caught once, your game is over. As a ninja, you can only dodge once and the second time gets you caught sending you back to the last checkpoint. Shadow Assassins is an exciting and wonderful game that has the potential to keep gamers hooked to their favourite PlayStation Portable for hours. Carry out your Lord’s missions or go on your own assignment missions and have endless hours of fun.

You need the Mind of a Spy to play as Secret Agent Clank

Posted on Jun 27, 2008 04:38:35 PM

There have been plenty of action and spy games released for the PSP, and now we have another one to get excited about. The latest title in this genre is called Secret Agent Clank. This title also includes some enjoyable missions, including many well-executed stealth missions that help put this game above the competition.

The title becomes even more interesting when the player gets to take part in vehicular chases and puzzle based Gadgebot levels. Clank’s outfits make him look like a tough gentleman. His awesome outfits include a super cool bow tie, bomb like cough links, nicely folded lapel and a pen which can be further used to disable the security systems. As you progress in the game you will get more chance to purchase distinct gadgets which can be used further. The player will receive bonus each time he/she beats a security system or dodges a patrol etc.

While playing as Clank you can go through mini games such as a block dropping game and rhythm game, which pulls up the level of excitement. Clank is assisted by Gagdebots (three tiny droids), whose abilities include basic combat, pulling levers, conducting electricity or stacking on top of each other. Once you beat the game, the Challenger mode unlocks itself and makes the enemies even tougher to face. Despite the several tough tasks facing Secret Agent Clank (PSP), the level of difficulty is quite low and it takes around 10 hours to finish the game. Any hardcore gamers who want a lot of replay value might therefore do well to find it elsewhere.
