Ghost Recon - Advanced Warfighter 2 PSP: Stealth Based Action Fun is mostly like the PS3 Version

Posted on Jun 1, 2009 12:49:43 AM

Individuals who love gaming on their portable system are particularly going to love this one. The Ghost Recon - Advanced Warfighter 2 (PSP) is more or less like the PS3 version, though with some minor changes here and there in order to make it compatible to the portable system. Thinking about the original PS3 game version, the makers of Ghost Recon - Advanced Warfighter 2 (PSP) have done a pretty decent job while trying to include all the action and drama of this series into a portable player, ideal for handheld gaming.

Ghost Recon - Advanced Warfighter 2 (PSP) promises a smoother game play and improved controls which help to make the gaming experience a real delight. However there is one major flipside to the Ghost Recon - Advanced Warfighter 2 PSP version. It is natural for the fans to expect that this portable game version would be just as fantastic as the original PS3 version.

However there is not even a trace of GRAW in this portable version. In fact, GRAW cannot be called as an ideal condensed version of the original PS3 series. The plot of this game is on a Tom Clancy level and includes various twists and turns. The graphics are quite nice and the time taken in loading is surprisingly short as well. The flip part, however, is that the Playstation Portable game does not offer any options for individuals who are looking forward to play a multiplayer game with their friends. The glitch is that it only allows for a single player and that too, ad-hoc. Thus all your past records and achievements in the game will return to reset/default mode once you turn off the game.

Tom Clancy’s EndWar: Superb tactical shooter for the PSP

Posted on Feb 4, 2009 04:03:59 PM

The Tom Clancy’s EndWar game was developed by Funatics and published by Ubisoft. It is a tactical strategy game with a wonderful gameplay. It consists of three campaigns in the continents of Asia, Europe and America. There are dozens of missions to be accomplished in each of the campaign to be ultimately adjudged the winner. Thus this game features a lot of interesting factors to keep the players engaged. There are two actions namely the move and attack. Unlike the usual playing fields which are square shaped, this Tom Clancy game has a hexagon shaped playing field. The hexagon shaped playing field provides players with a lot of opportunities to attack the opponents and to defend themselves. Units like land, sea and air make the game very interesting.

In the battling sequences, the game graphics attains a new level and gives a warming display. The game’s multiplayer mode allows two players to play at once. One of the most unique features of this game is that players can create their own map by using the map editor tool. You can also share the maps created with your friends. If you feel the game is lengthy, you can shorten them with the tools provided in the menu. This enables players to put their creativity to use. As the players move to various levels, they are given tasks to be completed. On completion of these tasks, players can increase their ranks. A lot of strategies are involved in solving these tasks which sustains the lively atmosphere of the game.

There are as many as 30 battlefields in each campaign. As you move from one battlefield to the next, the fun factor is well maintained by the objectives laid in front of you. The battles in this game are simple yet needs well planned strategies. These strategies should be executed at the right time to get the desired result. Surprisingly enough, the PSP edition is very similar to the Tom Clancys EndWar PS3 version, excepting a few major differences with the graphics of course. Many critics also feel the PSP edition’s graphics could actually be better than they currently are. Apart from this the Tom Clancy’s EndWar is an exciting game with a wonderful gameplay.

Tom Clancy Splinter Cell Essentials

Posted on Dec 17, 2008 08:05:24 PM

Stealthiness is effectively maintained in this exciting game of Splinter Cell Essentials on PSP. Missions are innovative and interesting. The facility to save the game and resume from where you left off is convenient.

A compilation of some of the hits of Sam Fisher is what this game is all about. A veteran of portable games, his presence on the PC and consoles are well known. Missions from each of his previous games are integrated skillfully in addition to exciting new missions.

The drawback here is the lack of community to tie all this together as with the greatest hits album. As a player, you move from mission to mission following the two decade career of Sam Fisher. Essentials is a follow up of the Splinter Cell: Double Agent.

As you start playing the game, Sam visits the grave of his daughter on the first death anniversary. As Tom Clancy’s Splinter Cell progresses, you come to know of Sam’s whereabouts after the death of his daughter. Leaving the Third Echelon, Sam is found to have been working with terrorists. He is followed and arrested by the Homeland Security who takes him into custody and questions him.

The game is all about a flashback series where he is accused of hurting and killing civilians. He continues to deny the accusations as the mission is being played out.

The game features a total of nine modes. Bonus missions numbering three are unlockable. Linear missions involve memorizing movement of the enemies and finding the right strategy to combat them. Apart from the single player mode, you can have fun playing with your friends with the spy vs spy mode.

The PSP version has retained gadgets and moves of Sam including picking locks, hanging from pipes, split jumping, throwing grenades, shooting and knocking out enemies. Levels are pretty easy to navigate through.

As you move around in shadows, you can enhance your vision with the use of night goggles. With fluent controls, this game is easy to play and players feel there could have been more challenge. However, it is a fairly decent and interesting compilation of missions to keep you engaged and entertained on your favorite PSP.
