If you have a PlayStation Portable then it’s obvious that you periodically want to get new game titles to play. One of the simplest methods of getting games is to move out to the store and get your favorite game UMDs, but what if you’re a frequent traveller and can’t always find a store nearby?
In such situation the best way to get a game for your PSP is to go to the Internet and download the games you want. Primarily there are three main ways to get the PSP games downloaded from the Internet. The first one is to find out a portal which offers free game downloads. There are various web sites which offer free downloadable games for the PSP, including hit titles like FIFA 09. One can easily log on to such sites, register himself and get the games. The only issue with such sites is the content downloaded often contains virus or other malware and the games are not up to date.
Another option is to download trusted content by logging on to pay per download websites. Obviously if you want up to date data that is totally safe to use then you have to pay something for it. The benefit of pay per download sites is that it contains lots of PSP games to choose from and the download fee is nominal.

Initially, when the Play Station Portable was launched it was very successful as a handheld gaming console despite the fact that this device also supports high quality movie playback. The sales of the game UMDs have been always high but the sales of movie UMDs has never reached to that much height. One major reason for this was that the movie discs were very much expensive. They cost more than a standard DVD. Due to the poor response many studios discontinued the manufacturing and licensing of the game UMD for PSP. Ultimately it forced the hardcore PSP fans to access and download illegal movie files which were ripped and stored on the World Wide Web.
Now the Sony Entertainment has decided to boost the popularity and sales of the legal UMDs. The company has now promised to take care of most of the work such as licensing, manufacturing, marketing and distribution of movie UMDs. The company has also dropped the prices of the discs this time in order to make sure that the PSP fans now don’t look for any other alternate methods to enjoy movies on their consoles. The new UMDs will be available with a price tag ranging from $9.99 to $14.99, i.e. $10 to $25 less than the initial price of the discs which was announced few years back.
The director of hardware marketing John Koller said, “We want to provide a legal offering from the studios, … and it’s an easier conversation to have with them now. There is a lot of positive momentum with the PSP.”
The new UMDs are targeted to please the young males basically as they make up 92 percent of the total PSP owners. According to Koller, ” The biggest issue with UMD was the lack of creating for a targeted demo. When we first launched, it was a difficult sale. I don’t think it’s a big stretch to say that a 16-year-old doesn’t have a lot of discretionary income. … We were offering UMDs that were more expensive than DVDs at the time. And we want content that is in line with what the demo is asking for, action and comedy … not romantic dramas.”

With all the hype and popularity surrounding the Sony PSP, it has become latest news in the gaming industry. This handheld gaming console is a favorite among many popular personalities and is always a hit for the kids. It has been given the title of king of the hill by many of its fans. It has brought forward a new way to play games and watch movies and listen to some hard rocking music. It serves all purposes and solves most problems. Of all its huge success let us look at some of its pros and cons.
Pros
It is a sleek portable gaming system highlighted by an impressive wide-screen display and PS2-like graphics. It also boasts built-in WIFI, a web browser, the ability to play music and videos, as well as store images with the media manager. It comes in vibrant colors with a super fine metallic finish.
Cons
The Sony PSP multimedia functionality is underwhelming, especially for video, requiring an expensive memory card. The load times on the UMD (Universal Media Disc) games can be excessive. Ergonomically the device is OK but not great; as with most handheld gaming device, you’ll have to do a little finger stretching every 15 minutes or so to keep from cramping up. The problem with video playback is that you can only watch UMD videos on the PSP.
The bottom line is that Sony PSP elevates portable gaming to the next level, but its multimedia functionality falls short of its full potential. Thus, it will remain a number one in the gaming industry. It has left behind all the Nintendo DS Lite and DS competition. Sony PSP is a mixture of style, elegance and serves an ultimate gaming experience. It offers sophisticated graphically intensive games which will surely take your breath away!

Did you ever wanted to play a game which is on your friend’s PSP? Have you ever imagined playing a game on your PSP without its UMD? Imagine no longer, as this is now completely possible and achievable. Some versions of the PSP support a game sharing feature. This will allow you to play the games in multiplayer mode on two PSPs out of which one PSP contains the game UMD and the other one does not.
You can transfer the game data to the PSP RAM which does not have the UMD. To accomplish this, the person having the UMD selects the Transmit function in the game menu and the other person who wishes to download the game data has to select the ‘Game Sharing’ function under the main menu of his PSP. After that, as soon as the two devices recognize each other on a WLAN network, the game download begins. It takes time to download the game wirelessly at a speed of 11 megabits per second. The only problem is that not all the games are compatible with the game sharing feature. There are some selected games which can be shared on two PSPs simultaneously and they don’t offer as many features as other games. This is because while sharing the game it gets loaded in the PSP RAM. So, it’s natural that this will limit the game’s functionality.
Gamesharing is a temporary solution to enjoy the games. As the game is loaded in the RAM instead of from the memory card, it cannot be played once the main PSP having the UMD is switched off or set back to Home menu. Despite of all these limitations, gamesharing is very popular. It at least offers ad hoc multiplayer gaming, especially when one has no time to get his own UMD but wants to show off his gaming skills against his challenger.

“Download free movies in PSP” sounds great, but we always get caught with fake sites that advertise free downloads but actually charge huge amounts until you go broke. With mounting download rates, one has to think twice before building a movie collection.
Surely, the Sony PSP is one of the best hand held gaming consoles out there and watching movies on it is a great way to make the most of the fun and entertainment. The PSP compatible movies (UMD) can run upwards of $30 at most retail stores. Now, you can get a great opportunity by downloading your favorite movie (even high grade-def movies) online for absolutely free. We all must have encountered various websites offering “free movie downloads” but these sites charge a pre download or a monthly fee and don’t provide any customer service. Generally to download free PSP movies online we simply search for a major search engine and get confused by finding thousands of websites offering free movie download. These websites are not fully protected as they may also carry some viruses which can endanger your Sony PSP.
Smschat websites charge approximately $35 and allow you to download unlimited movies. Once you become a member you can have all the PSP movies, games, music, wallpaper and software free of cost. These websites are loaded with new releases and you can easily build a library of your own in an economical way. You also need to know some things before searching for a PSP download site:
No per download or monthly fee - You have to look for those websites which charge a lesser amount or a one time fee.
Nonstop downloads - Don’t limit yourself and build your collection of downloads freely.
Make sure to get free lifetime customer service - Support is very important and it should be 24/7 as it’s not worth downloading if it’s not present.
Quick downloads –.Majority of the PSP downloading websites are fast. If you have a DSL or a cable modem then it is bound to be fast, but if you have a dial-up connection it will work slowly.
Things can’t get much better than downloading movies on your Sony PSP, except downloading movies onto your PSP for free. Of course, it is also important to double check the legality of the site and make sure no copyright laws are being violated.
