Cannon Fodder is an out of the mill war game which depicts the very aspect of war in a light hearted vein. This game takes you through a war which makes you feel it is a laugh and quite cute. This is a fantastic game for those who love war games which is not too serious.
‘War is fun’ is the general feeling players experience as they start playing this interesting game. Originally released for the Commodore Amiga quit some time ago, the Cannon Fodder game from Sensible Software spawned numerous other titles, such as Cannon Soccer or Sensible Soccer. Gamers are constantly entertained by the miniature military they control as you make them hurl grenades at the guard huts, whiz through arctic wastelands steering skidoos or picking jungle patrols. Even when they die they are humorous. They leave a lot of blood trailing behind even as they are violently pulled away amidst a huge cry.
Level designs offer more challenge and entertainment as they are quite intelligent. As a player, you get to use exciting and advanced weapons. You also use vehicles as you go through crazily named missions. It is possible to perform radar sweeps and call in air strikes and you have at your disposal a fantastic array of new weapons. Using the sniper rifles and the flamethrowers is thrilling and addictive.
There is however a feeling of something lacking in the control system. It is quite difficult to guide your troops across the sea and land with just cursor rotation. There are annoying mis-directions and delays which are quite frustrating. Added to this is the irritating and temperamental secondary fire control. However, there are ways to tackle all these faults with practice and these cannot definitely keep us away from wanting to keep proceeding to the next mission. Wars are exciting and offer a lot of thrill and joy.
An interesting aspect of this game is the live reporting of action on the FTV channel which offers players a better view of the field. Modes include the co-op mode and the four player link play.
A wealth of interesting features have been packed into Canon Fodder by developers Codemasters and this game clearly comes with all the ingredients to offer players unlimited fun and excitement on their favourite PSP.

D-Day is the latest installment in the Brothers in Arms series. The game successfully manages to carry forward all the emotions and action that made the prequels famous and the franchise a big hit.
The game starts off with the gamers controlling Matt Baker and his compatriot Joe Hartsock, along with their “brothers in arms” troupe, and passing through the French countryside. The missions in Brothers in Arms - D-Day (PSP) feature slight differences compared to earlier released editions and have been made a bit tougher. Meanwhile the level length has remained around the same, and a check point system has been included in the game so that if the gamer dies in between any of the stages, he need not start all over again.
The game has to be played as a squad based first person shooter. This means that while controlling the main soldier, you will also be expected to lead other people. The face buttons are supposed to be used in the default scheme for giving orders, for raising the weapons and for tossing grenades. The gamer can easily look in all directions especially right and left, courtesy of the intuitive interface. At times it does become tough for the gamer to handle the controls when he/she has to give orders to the soldiers to sit down and relax. You need to work a great deal as the down button has to pushed first, then the target has to be moved and finally the button has to be released so that the orders can be passed on.
The movements have to be kept very fast in order to counter the moves of the enemies. The gameplay has been designed to emulate a typical battle zone where soldiers continually battle each other and gunfire prevails. Once the gamer gets familiar with the controls, then it becomes very easy to play. The weapons used in the game sound pretty convincing and the game’s audio theme is also interesting.
If there are gamers out there who love war themed first person shooters with a strategic element, then this is the game for them.

Each and every individual gamer must have at least heard of the Call of Duty series. Call of Duty: Roads to Victory is a mind blowing title with outstanding graphics and addicting gameplay. And now every gamer (hardcore or amateur) who owns a PSP (Play Station Portable) has a golden chance to enjoy this legendary war oriented game with a PSP version.
Now let’s get delve into the details of this awesome PSP title. The title incorporates a course of 14 levels in which the player will lead American, Canadian and British troops into the battle. Before you come across a country’s campaign, you have to watch a descriptive black and white newsreel clip. In Call of Duty - Roads to Victory (PSP), there are four distinct control schemes available, but the default one works very well and efficiently. A player can move with the analog stick, see & aim by facing the button, raise the weapon with the left shoulder button and shoot with the right shoulder button. One can lock onto enemies by looking in the general vicinity of an enemy but it doesn’t always work. In some situations you have to target an enemy from up close, as some weapons contain a very short lock range. In the game whenever you kill a soldier another will spawn and take his position. A gamer can easily predict the forthcoming situation and the levels if he/she has played the previous parts.
The graphics are cool and quite realistic, with situations like explosions, gunfire, smoke or attacking soldiers always appearing superb. So overall the title is very interesting, and if you are a Call of Duty fan then you can’t go wrong with this game.

One could also call it “PSPs for the Front”, at least that is what Peter Gallagher and Jack Wilson are doing with their “Games for Heroes” action. In this effort they are collecting handheld consoles, like PSPs, Nintendo DSs or Gameboys, for American soldiers in Iraq or Afghanistan. With the support of Marine Parents, these handheld consoles should then make their ways directly into American camps in the, unfortunately still, unstable countries. As we can read on their webpage, the whole thing started with letters from school children to the US soldiers, that were accompanied with sweets. The happy receivers apparently answered the mail with wishes for a little digital entertainment, and then the current project began as a result. Now Gallagher and Wilson plan to collect up to 10,000 used consoles (of course with the necessary charger cables and games) to make the soldiers happy.
It might sound a little silly for soldiers to be wanting games, but as they themselves write: “Most of the soldiers are under 20.”, and for such soldiers playing games comes natural, even in an unnatural environment. It also might be strange to have soldiers play war games on their PSP in a war zone, but the PSP style of war is likely more fun than real combat.
