When you just thought that the Sony Playstation Portable couldn’t do much more than what it can already do, we will have yet another surprise coming up. The PSP now gets a new feature to boast of. Sony has reported officially the launch of Go! View – a video download service for the PSP will be available for access all over Europe this summer.
In partnership with Sky (a satellite Broadcaster), will allow for a subscription based or a pay-per view type of access to videos to be made available as direct downloads.
Users can register for more information now on the Go! View website, and when the service launches will be able to download content to the PSP via an internet-connected PC. They will be able to choose the content they would like and then even have them sorted out on the web itself at the User’s Account section. When needed, however, the user can download the content on the PSP.
Alison Turner, MD of Go!View, stated her belief that “Go!View is a perfect marriage of great content and leading on-demand technology from Sky and the best portable device to watch it on from PlayStation.”
More services and products are expected from Go View and some of the expected ones are like to be a video messaging service and a GPS navigation software platform for the PSP. Not that we didn’t have some of them from our beloved Homebrews but they are just that – enviable hacks with security issues. It is something else when your favorite software comes from some respectable names.
With releases like these it appears that the PSP has an insatiable appetite to eat more and more developments and we are only beginning to wonder as to what else this machine is capable of doing.
