Undead Knights: The Action Is Still Alive

Posted on Oct 15, 2008 12:46:08 PM

The PSP has always been a great platform for offering action games to entertain its users. Undead Knights is one of those amazing action adventures, which provides a complete dose of entertainment to gamers who love to smash their enemies. The game is being published by Sony Computer Entertainment and is slated for a 2009 release.

The game focuses on making your enemies fight for you by turning them into zombies. As a player goes on rotating through foes, from enemies to subordinates, he will also gain the power to control them. The players can have power over these so called zombies through certain commands like throw and charge. If you want them to enter castles, you can simply create a zombie ladder to make your task easier. However, that is just a part of the thrill, as there are many other things that will amuse you and set this game apart from standard horror games.

Another worthy feature of the game is its multiplayer option, which allows up to four people to play together simultaneously. So you can expect a great war, with your own enemies fighting for you. Even the developer Tecmo has a lot of expectations from the game as they call it “a new-style invasion action game”. This probably points out towards the inventive plot and the exploratory gameplay. Although Tecmo is not really revealing many details about the story, what they have revealed is interesting enough for us to get excited.

It will be enjoyable and challenging for players to use their dead enemies for their own purposes as their pawns. It sounds quite interesting to be infused with the special powers that can completely reverse the role of a dead rival. While there are plenty of Zombie games to go around, such as Resident Evil 4, not too many allow you to build you’re own zombie army from your slain opponents. Well! If you feel that this point is overemphasized, I must tell you that it is actually the most exciting part that makes the Undead Knights unique, and hopefully a great PSP game.

Infected for the PSP

Posted on Sep 15, 2008 01:28:42 PM

Infected is a blood soaked, fast paced PSP game with zombies and guns. This game is based on a virus which is infecting the entire population of New York City just two weeks before Christmas, and turning them into aggressive mutated zombies. The player assumes the role of Officer Stevens, a rookie cop who manages to survive this virus attack because of a rare quality in his blood. Dr. Schaeffer, who is a doctor/scientist, helps him in understanding how to use his rare and immune blood to destroy the malformed savages. You can say that the ultimate goal is quite clear: kill zombies.

The most interesting part of the game is that the player has to use his blood to kill these zombies, because Stevens’ blood has a unique explosive effect whenever it comes in contact with the infected. There is a biochemical gun hooked on to the players left arm, which has to be used for destroying the zombies, after they are first softened up by bullets and other in game weapons. The player can also get bonus points by chaining the zombies and then killing them together with the viral gun.

Once this game starts it let the player rest for a second, because the player is either busy killing zombies or protecting innocent people. As the player progresses through the levels, the number of enemies also keeps on increasing. The game is very impressive graphically, with loads of color, most of it red blood to go along with the horror tinged black humor.

Another important aspect of the game is its multiplayer mode. The other players of the game in this mode get infected by the character or the winning player. There are two ways to clean up this infection, firstly the player will have travel back at each level and destroy each character, or secondly by passing the infection onto three other players. The second option is of course better, because it allows the player to spread his virus over to the other players.

Infected is a great zombie game with a very unique twist. Not only is the action fast and furious, but the concept is incredibly engaging. While the Nintendo DS has plenty of zombie games, such as Teenage Zombies, Infected is the only zombie game available for the PSP. And if the single player missions get boring, you have the option of infecting other players online which is sadistically satisfying and enough for recommending this game on that fact alone.
